Even that episode ("Helga On The Couch," one of the all-timers) wasn't about Brainy; he got only slightly more screentime than he usually did, and that's because Helga held back from socking him the second time he appeared.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Bump
This show made me sad as a kid so I avoid watching. Now that i'm older, I decided to watch more episodes and..it's pretty nice. A little too gloomy at times, but still nice. I like how the kids act. Especially Helga :3
Though I wonder, where does this show take place? New York?

Supports cartoons being cartoony!Officially, a fictionalized city called Hillwood. It's based in part on New York and in part on Seattle, Craig Bartlett's hometown (which also happens to be mine, so I loved the ending joke in "Wheezin' Ed" when Earl tried to spend a counterfeit penny at Ivar's fish and chips.)
Has anybody here ever seen the claymation Arnold shorts Craig Bartlett made before the show came out?
I believe I had, but only when I was a really little kid.
He also drew comics about Arnold for Simpsons Illustrated, which I believe have been posted to the Internet so that those who don't have copies of this 20-year-old magazine can see them.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Homer and Lisa Groening? Did Bartlett have connections with Matt Groening?

He's married to Lisa Groening, in fact.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Good to see this bumped off, considering we're getting a new movie next year
What I want to know is, will the new movie leave off where the show ended?
And will they insert modern stuff in there? Hey Arnold ended a decade ago, and some of its aspects are rather dated. Remember how Big Bob Pataki was the Beeper King? Nobody uses beepers anymore.
Hopefully they don't... it'd cause too many logical contradictions.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."We don't know how much of the original Jungle movie pitch they're using besides the obvious "arnold goes to the jungle to find where his parents are"; i'd assume they'd change it a bit. so it might take place a couple of years afterwards (i think it was just one year in the original pitch), or it might not.
Actually we know a ton about the Jungle Movie. http://heyarnold.wikia.com/wiki/Hey_Arnold!:_The_Jungle_Movie
Craig released a whole lot of info for the fans back when there was no revival in sight.
That's not what I meant. We know a lot about the movie back when it was canned and there were no plans to bring it back. What I said was that we don't know how much of that is still going to be in this new one. I believe someone at Nickelodeon/in the production said they weren't necessarily going to use all of those old ideas but I might be misremembering.
Honestly, because of how much Craig had in store for the movie, I have hope that not too much will change. I could be wrong, but I just don't see why they'd want to totally rewrite the plot.
Just the fact that we know the new movie is meant to be the Jungle Movie means there's quite a lot of material from what was revealed by Craig ages ago that's pretty crucial to the plot. As long as we have the most important stuff in the movie then I'm not too worried about possible changes.
And mentioning modernizing the movie, with the beeper king at least, that might be a non issue, because Helga's parents may not even be in the movie long enough to point any of his business out. I dunno, I kinda figured the story would be just about the kids, Arnold's parents, and the new characters that we deal with in the jungle.
Well, beepers still have a niche because of the lower bandwidth involved, the fact that their operation doesn't interfere with other electronics nearly to the extent that cell phones can, and it's much easier to send a signal to a beeper than a cell phone. That said, yeah, they're mostly tools for doctors and public safety officials, and even then as a supplement to a cell phone.
That said, it's remarkably easy to become a franchisee to a cellular service provider. If we get a flash to the modern day, I'd bet good money that Bob Pataki owns a cell phone store now. It'd be really easy to see him get into it - he probably would branch out into carrying cell phones early on, then take a buyout as cell phones get huge, with part of the buyout being his own franchise store to sell cell phones and accessories.
As funny as it would be to see Pataki lament how cell phones ruined him, I don't think he'd be that dumb and miss making money on cell phones.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. As I said though, there may not be a reason to tell us what's going on with Helga's father's business since he probably won't be in the plot.
I mean, apparently Olga is gonna be in the movie, and I don't know why they'd even bother bringing her back if the Patakis didn't at least have some significant involvement.
That being said, whether it matters to the movie or not, Bob would've been business smart enough to incorporate cell phones, no doubt. I wouldn't be surprised if he already sold cell phones in his stores, just in limited quantities.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Artwork and concept art from the movie.
Jungle Movie going to come out this Thanksgiving.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Those new pictures look pretty good. It does seem to have a more vibrant coloration than the original series but that's a stupid thing to complain about, and I don't have a problem with it anyway. I wonder if this is going to take place in the fall or winter or if they just felt like changing the characters' outfits. Grandpa, Gerald, and Phoebe's outfits seem to suggest a early fall setting.
Also, wow, are people in the comments of that article seriously complaining about how this looks so far? Did they really expect the setting and characters to look exactly like they did ten years ago? The fact that they're complaining about a barely changed art-style is just...wow.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Also, it's promo art. Not a still or a cel or anything.
I'm surprised people are complaining about the outfits, given that I'm pretty sure we've seen all of those outfits (except Grandpa's sweater) in the series before.
Although... is it just me or does Helga have a bust now?
Whatever. In any case, at this point the only thing that could turn me against this revival is finding out they ditched Jim Lang and hired a pop artist to do the music or something. So far, it looks perfect.

There's a random pig, I likes it.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Gerald kinda looks off, but everything else is pretty good.
Worst case scenario was that they could have remodeled the characters to look like something out of a modern cartoon, but they were good to us.
Isn't the pig Abner, Arnold's pet?

Aside from the time Helgy actually got in trouble for punching him, no?
