Looks like it has potential but also looks like it can easily end up just being a game where random flailing works better than trying to play by the rules.
The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated. This is Crytek, however. They take their shit seriously. Plus, with PC Kinect...
Jonah FalconSo where does the aliens/mutant apes fit in?
In the quiet of the night, the Neocount of Merentha mused: How long does evolution take, among the damned?Development is coming along well according to Crytek.
However, he seems to slip and accidentally confirm that this game will indeed be for the next gen Microsoft console (and Kinect 2.0.)
Jonah FalconSo this game came out.
It appears to suck.
It does? I've only seen two reviews, but they seemed sort of positive.
I've seen about 8 or 9 reviews. Most of them put it in the solidly 5/10 area.
Great Graphics. Interesting plot. Gameplay about as boilerplate and generic as humanly possible.
So pretty much exactly what people glanced from the trailers, eh? What a shame.
I've been watching a playthrough of it on You Tube. Yeah the combat looks repetitive but it also looks pretty fun, to say nothin of the awesome voice acting and graphics.
The problem with the combat is it is fun...at first.
As i Understand it, the flaw is that its exactly as cool at the beginning as at the end. Theres never any new permutations or unique new mechanics. If you've seen the gameplay of level one, you've seen it all. On top of that, while enemies can be killed without the quicktime sequence, it takes triple as long as severely impedes xp and perk gain, so the name of the game is executing the same cinematic kills on every mook ever.

There are no Combos. When you start jamming the "Sword" button it's just a string of attacks. Until something else happens.
It's basically the batman Arkham games only watered down and forcing constant QTE's on you.
So I was watching a playthrough of the game and as someone who played a bit of Civilization V I was somewhat interested when Boudica came up.
But then it confused me a bit, because in this game she's presented as the daughter of some "King Oswald." I don't remember any King Oswald from the Civilopedia. No King Oswald from wikipedia. And wasn't Boudica an ally of Rome before she decided to revolt? As in, when she was queen? I don't wanna play armchair historian, but huh?
Yeah, it's definitely a kind of alternate history done for the sake of story xD I've been watching another playthrough so far, though I plan to get the game when I get an Xbox One. It looks really good, and though the combat seems somewhat repetitive the game still looks really fun.
5/10? That's not just bad, that's implying it's some degree of unplayable...ugh.
Okay, so how COD-like does it get?

Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort"There's a few turret sections, a beach-storming level (which is awesome), and the finale is you fighting off a siege of Rome. It's probably just because the combat is repetitive but other than that it looks awesome, to me. The voice-acting is top notch, the graphics are amazing, the plot's a tad cliche but other than that I can't find much wrong with it.
Yahtzee's posted a review. I'd link it, but I'm not allowed after the ban.
Also, is it safe to put this game under Xtreme Kool Letterz?

From what I understand, gamers love the game more than reviewers. It's best if you think of Ryse as a gorgeous version of Dynasty Warriors.

But in Dynasty Warriors you get to K.O. thousands of troops in each battle and there aren't any QT Es. And they've got like 80 characters now.
this place needs me hereRegardless I'd like to get more story DLC, considering how short the actual story was. Yeah, it could be a movie, but maybe we could play as Leontius during a campaign of his, considering he and Vitallion served together and Leontius was a general.
Pannic: when Boudicca was queen, the king died and the Romans moved in to take her lands and raped her daughters. Her revolt was less a revolt and more of a totally-righteous-and-justified roaring rampage of bloody vengeance.

Just like the Boudica in this one.
In case anyone is interested in this game still, it seems that Crytek have taken the reins from Microsoft, and it it looks like it's coming out on the PC. In 4K resolution, no less.

I'll get it if it's cheap. Like, "$20 or less" cheap.
My laptop probably can't handle the graphics, but I probably wouldn't get it anyway.
Crytek's Kinect game.
