Winx Club on Nickelodeon:

As Useless as Bubble Man
The special in on now. Appearently, Nick is making its own dub.

Really, I miss 4Kids' VA's.

[up] You...miss 4Kids' dub?

Man. Either you're crazy or Nick's dub is straight up horrible.

It's back.
My cousins forced me to watch it with them on both Canadian and US networks. 4Kids dub sucks dick, Nick is okay.
Sloving cases one by one
A friend of mine tells me the dub is different, but does anyone know if Nick is showing the uncut episodes or the censored ones that 4kids had.

[up][up][up]I said "VA's!" I know the 4Kids Dub was butchered, but the voices for the characters were more unique that these.

4kids' dub sucked, but at least the VA's were good. Bloom sounds too OLD!

And why did they change the clothes AND Stella's scepter? surprised
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.
The voice actors at 4kids are fine IMO people just love to hate them for the sake of hating.
....Why
So besides the voices anything majorly different yet?

I like the Nick dub so far. The voices sound fine except for Bloom's, who does sound too old. Tecna's voice sounded a bit weird to me since I'm used to her phony British accent from the 4Kids dub, but it certainly wasn't bad. The only thing I don't like is that the first two seasons are just going to be shown through specials. A few interesting plot points were ignored in this first special, such as Brandon switching identities with Skye. And the way they worked in the episode where they were forced to clean Alfea was kinda weird-originally it was a punishment, but now they just said that it was tradition for students to do a task without magic and the Winx just happened to be picked that day. Honestly, first timers are going to be missing out of a lot of stuff, but I guess Nick thought it would be cheaper to make specials rather than redub the first two seasons. Better yet, why didn't they use the Rai English dub? That would have saved them a lot of work...

Talk to the hand.
[up]Wait what? So they are squeezing the first two seasons into a few specials then going off in a new direction....that is odd. I thought things were moving fast when I was watching it over my younger sister's shoulder tongue.

Just a question: Who watches the show for the same reason everyone watched Sailor Moon?

Is thus like sailormoon? What's the appeal of the show just curious.

[up][up][up] I don't.

And you know what really annoys me? The way they changed the clothes. And the transformations. Holy fuck the transformations. Did they really have to chage those? "Magic Charmix". Really?just bugs me

Nuts to this, where can we see the REAL Winx Club?

Were the clothes the way they were originally? Or was it changed just for this?

I remember seeing the first few episodes Winx club years and years ago, so when I watched this I was like "Wait, where did that come from?" Some of the things didn't make sense, like the part where one scene Bloom's dad didn't believe the fairy magic and then the next scene their house is partly blown up and Bloom is going to school. It took me a while to realize this was a speed up of the season. Personally, I think that's a bad move, but eh, we'll see, maybe it'll work out.

I just hated the 4kids dub for some reason. No offense to them, but it just seemed way too babyish for a show and they ruined Baltor and Chimera as well as a million other characters wasted in favor of lame plots. The Trix were pretty much useless after the third season, and we didn't even get to see the worlds of the other fairies. BLOOM KEPT WHINING LIKE A BITCH THE WHOLE SECOND SEASON AND HALF THE THIRD about her real parents—then blows her adoptive parents off like trash even though they saved her from a damn fire when she finally sees them in the 4kids dub, making Bloom sound like a total asshole. The only issue I can see are the witches' voices in comparison to Bloom's. They sound like teenagers... but I might as well like the Nick series better anyway.

Wait, a third English dub? What the funt?

Haven't seen the Nick dub. The 4Kids dub had good voice acting, the Rainbow dub was more faithful to the original Italian and had a better plot.

I watched it in French, and thus got the best of both worlds. Also, my French improved a little.

I don't want to be offensive (sorry)

But I have seen the winx transformed and they look like they have waaaaay to much make-up and way too much decorations.

Don't misudetstand me. I am sure this is a great show. It's just that the exessive sparks/ decorations the girls have trow me off a bit.

Is it just because I saw the whole first season (well, it was the 4Kids version, but still), or did it seem like they were trying to cram way too much in a hour? It doesn't give any time for any characterization for the other members of the Winx Club, for example. If you went by these specials alone, you couldn't tell that Flora was a Shrinking Violet or that Musa was a bit of a tomboy. In the first special, we did get little inklings of their personalities (such as Stella being too lazy to help out with the cleaning and Tecna being utterly clueless as to how to use a mop and a bucket), but not enough to make them stand out, as they were "blink and you'll miss it" moments. Because of the time limit, they're merely Bloom's friends.

Which leads to another thing: The emotional impact of Bloom leaving Alfea in the second special was really dampened by rushing things. In the series, you were shown all the adventures Bloom had with the other girls and how her relationship with them developed, which gave you a reason to feel sad when she decided to leave. This all happens off-screen in the special, but without seeing it for yourself, it's hard to feel any emotional connection. To sum it up, the specials are telling instead of showing due to time, and they suffer from it.

Oh, what's with Bloom mentioning Charmix when she transforms? O_O Is that what the normal transformation is called now? What will happen when they summarize season 2? Are they just not going to bother? ...Well, since there are only going to be four specials, I guess the last one will be season 2, so I guess they're just going to scrap the original concept of Charmix.

One good thing though was that they actually mentioned that Daphne is Bloom's sister. I don't think 4Kids did that.

I don't know WHY Nick casted pretty much all their teen stars in this. Teens or adults would be fine. But late teens sound awkward.

^_^
[up][up] The season two special skipped mentioning Charmix at all and turned a year into about two, three weeks...

And yes, that means Charmix is now the name of the first transformation.

About the V As: Ariana Grande and Matt Shively were pretty good for first timers but Keke Palmer and most of the others were horrible.
Rainbows hurt.
I miss the 4Kids VAs. Flora and Tecna's voices just don't fit their personalities in the Nick dub. But at least Nick is bringing us the fourth season and new episodes. That's better than nothing.

And let's be honest, the Nick dub is way better than the CinÚlume dub.

Case in point, Sky's voice at 7:00
