Skinhead is a wiiiiide movement. Plenty of room for Black folks.

I'd have forgotten all about this thread's existence if you didn't bump this. Thank you for doing so.

The thing is, I have limited knowledge on this guy. I'll look up about more info on him.

Also, do all of you think "Yeezus" deserve all the Album-Of-The-Year praises back in 2013?

Short answer : no.

Long answer : no, but it is still an interesting piece of music and you should check it out anyway.

It's status is imo overrated, not in the sense that it is terrible but more because it's far from a perfect album. By my count, I like about half of the songs on it, and the rest is mainly just kind of lackluster and not really very engaging.

As it stands though, it's still interesting in that it's a really really mainstream rapper who tried to bring to the forefront sounds and ideas that were more prevalent in acts like Death Grips than West's previous albums. It doesn't entirely succeed, but the fact is there could very well be Kanye fans who liked this album's sound and if they sought out something similar, ran into more underground bands like Death Grips or clipping. for example.

Of course this is all indirect and Kanye never references any of these as inspiration either in the lyrics or the liner notes, and on interview acts his usual self (I.e. "I am a genius and the creator of all things") so it is definitely not the intention of this album to bring attention to these other bands and industrial/experimental hip hop in general, but in a roundabout way I kind of think it did.

[up]Considering the amount of hatred the album got from fans, I'd hardly call it overrated.

I was referring more to the critical reception. This thing's gotten crazy good scores and reviews when it came out.

I think Critical Dissonance is the term we're looking for here.

Kanye's "All Day" sounds surprisingly good on radio. I'm anticipating SWISH quite a bit, although I think the change in title was unnecessary. So Help Me God gives me a whole different vibe just based off of that. It seems less epic now.

I'm your jazz singer, and you're my cult leader.

https://danbull.bandcamp.com/album/the-life-of-pablo wow kanye's new album is even better than I expected

don't actually support this guy with your money, the gimmick kinda wears thin after like 4 tracks.

It's finally released on spotify, so if you want to listen to it and you didn't make the mistake of getting tidal, you can do so now.

I'm still wishing we got more hype tracks like 'All Day', and Kanye kept So Help Me God as the title. It would have been cool as hell.

[up]We had No More Parties In L.A. which both kicks so much ass AND has Kendrick Lamar on it. But we also had Facts which is pretty easily Kanye's worst track of all time.

Facts was bad? No, no. I liked it. It wasn't super great but it has hype potential I think. There's worse stuff on the album.
