Tell it to the Serbs, Englishman.

Ireland =/= England, mate. Unless you're just trolling.

I would really like to punch that fucking racist whore!

Simply because, as a nation, Serbia has made some mistakes in the past, does not mean she has the right to say that.

If these jokes are really funny to Americans, then I guess it can tell you quite a bit about the level of American "civilization".

They're funny to something like 5% of Americans. Just because we have a lot of stupid pricks doesn't mean that we're all stupid pricks.

Does serbian count as a race? Maybe that is what they killed all those people for.

Personally I'm more offended by how this is supposed to be funny. Racial humour can be funny, but I didn't really find this funny.

Of course that's my opinion, but still!

Especially that last part. That didn't even sound like a joke, more like a Serbian ran over her dog when she was five and she still has a grudge against them.

I'm suprised nobody's said anything about Greg Proops, the self-hating American and the worst person to regularly appear on Who's Line Is It Anyway. He thinks Serbia's in Central Asia...

I don't see it as double standards. It is pure economics. If Chelsea is earning money on this then there must be tons of people who find her jokes actually funny. And e! channel must have counted on that audience in advance or else they would have sacked this episode. Conclusion: it is ok, and even profitable, to make rude jokes on whole nations, religions, beliefs ...

[up] You insulted American culture - as a whole - while being upset about someone making fun of Serbia.

Where is the insult actually? I said "it can tell you ..." which is quite a neutral statement meaning that anyone can form his/her opinion based on certain facts.

"This kind of humor would make an average civilized person feel ashamed and uncomfortable, regardless of the targeted group in the joke. If these jokes are really funny to Americans, then I guess it can tell you quite a bit about the level of American "civilization"."

Don't try to weasel out of what you said by saying it's just a neutral statement. The scare quotes around the word civilization is damning.

ah, I apologize for that, must be wrong usage of quotes (English is not my native tongue). Wanted to say "civilization" as an adjective and not as a noun.

"But the history of a balkan country is boring."

Vlad the Impaler and Dalmatian pirates want to have a word with you.

"Also kinda disturbed by how the video poster denies the massacre in serbia."

I'm disturbed that Handler and the co-hosts think it's appropriate to A) make fun of genocide and B) bring it into conversation in the first place. It would be like a foreign newspaper reviewing a Britney Spears concert or some such and ranting about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Black Comedy is the hardest form of comedy to do right, and she did it wrong because she and Greg Proops are unfunny. But nothing is out of bounds for comedy. You just have to make it funny.

Also, the video's been taken down due to copyright claim/ass-covering.

@tongpu, relating to Dylan Moran:

Holy shit, it's the smug guy, David, from Shaun of the Dead!

On topic, though... I can see where some outrage comes from, but at the end of the day, it's Chelsea Handler. One alleged "comedian" making asinine remarks is nothing to get offended over. Hell I hear people make anti-American remarks all the time, yet I shrug it off. Point is, a comedian saying stupid things really ain't worth getting worked up over.

There's a difference between humor and chauvinism. Chelsea is a chauvinist, and her whole shtick is on level with ching-chong "jokes". I don't care about her, I'm not insulted as a Serb, I'm a bit insulted as a human being.

And I have to react to this: "Also kinda disturbed by how the video poster denies the massacre in serbia"

Excuse me. There was massacre IN Serbia? Really? When? Where exactly? I live in Serbia whole my life and I don't know about any massacre that happened IN Serbia. But I do know that few of you should probably stop talking about stuff you don't know anything about or you know, educate yourself a bit, before talking. Start with differences between Ireland and England then move on to more complicated topics.

She could have just made a joke about A Serbian Film, and be done with it.

Because that would have been much funnier than what she said.

Also, this is perhaps minor if compared to the main blunder, but was anyone else uneasy about the people of the video that was linked laughing at Amy Winehouse for her being an alcoholic and/or a drug addict?

I do not particularly care about her music, but laughing at someone else being on a pretty obvious path towards self-destruction seems... well, nasty.

According to what I read, she was obviously drunk (or drugged up, or both) and completely unable to sing. She was booed down, and after this she canceled her whole tour. You can find the whole thing on youtube if you want, but it's really a rather sad spectacle.

It doesn't matter if it happened IN or out of Serbia, the point is there were a few Serbian blokes inclined to genocide during a certain period.

Of course the Nazi's were alright during WW 2, I mean most massacres didn't happen IN Germany.

I'd rather not watch someone fall apart on stage unless they have done something to deserve it. And I pretty sure that she hasn't.
