Well at the very least it will be better than that Family Guy MMO. Probably
Has a compulsive editing and re-editing disorder.Users will dig up clues, which will let them find prizes in the real world.
that line is a bit concerning, doubt it's the extent of the game though.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Yeah, that seems a bit weird.
To be absolutely honest, "better than the Family Guy MMO" isn't saying much in my book. Then again, I don't like that show. (Which isn't to say that I'm much of a Potter fan: No one's going to be able to touch the Wizarding School trope for decades now, despite the fact that Rowling is neither the first nor the best. But even so.)
If they go through Turbine, at least there's a chance of it being decent.
I detect Alternate Reality.
I will consume not only your flesh, but your very soul.Yeah, nope.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Another scheme of a hag trying to milk cash. I already don't like HP as is. This is appearing to be an eyesore
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Pottermore isn't an MMO.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!.

Well, now that it's been properly announced, I think it's shaping up to be uniquely entertaining - but since we've seen so little of it, the first impression could easily be wrong...
Educomix: "Good. I'll make toast."Hm... From what I understand, it's sort of like Homestuck where you type what the hero does next.
Well I signed up for the beta. Can you have a beta for what appears to be an arg?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I bet this will be good, but to be honest I'm not looking forward to it. What was once a private reading experience will become another competition I'm fated to lose.
So...basically an upjumped fan/merch site.
And that's it.
...why did this require build-up?
Or is there actually some sort of ARG built into it? Because thus far, it's just coming off like an upjumped fansite.

Well, from what I've heard from other sites, this is a bit of an ARG, with new info about the Potterverse for those who get through it.
The only thing merchandise-related is that fans will be able to purchase the Harry Potter e-books on the site for the first time. That's about it.
I'm in the Beta right now and it's basically an ARG. You play a student that gets Sorted in Harry's year, you get your wand and school supplies, learn info that wasn't revealed in the books, and generally just neat tidbits and stuff.
That's it? You don't get to change the fate of any character, big or small?
Er, not that I know of. I don't get why you would want to do that, personally. The site isn't complete yet, so not all features are available, but I doubt that you would be able to change the canon in any way.
It's also building on a lot of background info that Rowling never got into in the books. So far the Dursleys, Professor McGonagall, Quirrell, and Ollivander have gotten immense background info revealed via Pottermore.
Well, it's the first thing that popped in my head when I first read this. I was almost expecting it to be something like Magia Revolution, but it seems to be mostly an expanded version of it.

As far as I know, there's no altering of the story's canon, but as the site's still in beta, that could possibly change. Most likely Rowling will probably reveal the fates of certain characters that weren't divulged in the books. The amount of background information on Pottermore so far is staggering.
There's a LOT more background information relating to pretty well every aspect of the HP universe here. If you like HP and are interested in knowing a ridiculous amount more about the characters, setting, JK's thought processes and reasonings while writing the books, etc, then it's brilliant. Most of the content is already up on the HP Wiki by the way.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Yikes, there have been so many delays that a lot of people have lost interest. I actually forgot about it for a while. Well apparently the site is supposed to finally open in April.
It's open now and I guess it's been open for a while. Delaying the opening really killed the hype.
One Piece blog Beyond the LampshadeWhat killed the hype for me was that Pottermore wasn't what I had expected. I sort of forgot to drop this watch even.
I'm playing it, and so far I find it REALLY fun :)
Read my stories!

Just some leaked info, but we'll be getting more tomorrow.
Also, not sure what I think about it; a Harry Potter MMO? Gonna have to think about that one depending on how well its implemented.
