I have two narrators. One is a girl who well-educated and quite amiable on the outside but has a nasty streak. According to the people that read her chapters, this shows well enough.

The problem is the second narrator, a boy who is a Deadpan Snarker and is rather crass despite also being well-educated. He's also awkward and feels a bit detached from the rest of the world, almost in a physical sense. When I tried to show this in the narration, the sentences ended up being short and having the same structure with occasional swearwords. Any suggestions? More information will be supplied as needed.

Well, my first thought is of reading The Catcher In The Rye.

Sounds like he'd be Sophisticated as Hell, and ironic in his descriptions of things.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.
