Oh I am ready for the backtrack.

Apparently they took steps to fix that

One interesting thing that I didn't even think about until I had it pointed out to me is that nowhere in that trailer, or any other trailer that I've seen, does it state that this is a remake. Looking at just the stuff Nintendo puts out, you might believe this was a brand new game.

Going through Princess Peach Showtime, I can't help but notice the similarities in some of its settings with Live A Live. You have a Kung-Fu level, a Ninja level, a Cowboy level, and the superhero level could be conflated with the near future level and the swordfighter level could be conflated with the middle ages level.

Seems like some of the dialogue has been changed to be closer to the original Japanese including Hooktail being afraid of frogs rather than crickets now. Looking pretty likely for them to show off Vivian being transgender?

I don't recall that showing up in the most recent trailer. Also, why the change from frog to grasshopper in the first place?

Because of the badge sound, I would assume

It was a frog species native to Japan, so they thought a cricket would sound closer.

But why are dragons scared of frogs/crickets anyway?

It didn't show up in the recent trailer, but Hooktail's weakness being changed to be more like the Japanese version was picked up by some content creators and journalists who got a chance to preview it.

x2 iirc Hooktail got food poisoning from eating one. Hence the aversion.

Also, I'm hearing that the remake/remaster/whatever only runs at 30fps? The original ran at 60 so that's kind of lame.

Oh, that makes sense. I thought maybe it was a Frog Ninja thing. XD

Hooktail also had an aversion to frogs in the german version of TTYD. tbh, that badge's sound never really sounded like a frog to me.

Going back to that overview trailer, I noticed at 3:15, AKA the bit where they're talking about the theater filling up with people, pressing the + button apparently enables "Tattle Check." I guess it will tell you which of the enemies have been tattled and which haven't.

That was one of the first new things people noticed when the game was announced.

Feels like they could have at least used another term for the name instead of leaving it as "Shadows" and leaving out the "Sirens", if only because that title seems underwhelming. Maybe something like "Shadow Spectres"?

I don't see how that confirms anything. I really doubt they'll have the cojones to have an explicitly trans main character in 'Murica, even in this day and age.

This is one of those things where people will yell at Nintendo on social media no matter what they do.

Mario and Goombella actually look at the Pianta mob hit in Rougeport square when you first arrive there and then turn back with Goombella complaining about the city.

That's it, 10/10, 5 stars, Game of the Year, peak, nothing can top this.

they wouldnt change the dialouge unless they were doing *something* with it

I wonder how well it'll sell. IIRC Super Paper Mario is the best-selling game in the series.
