And then Space Pirates would race in cars... Question is, what pirate species would be used?

Mario Strikers Charged is a hard game.
Unbiased: Mario Strikers Charged is kind of cheap.
Biased: Mario Strikers Charged is a good game. Sequel.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The Strikers series is probably the absolute best spinoff series in the Mario franchise.
And Charged's soundtrack is amazing, I can't stress that enough.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I really, really wanted to play that game. =<
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I never touched the Mario Strikers series. When it comes to sports spin-offs, it's Kart or nothing for me. I admit I was tempted by Mario Super Sluggers, but only because King K. Rool was in it.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Extreme is the descriptor of the century...
I didn't think the phrase "rubberband AI" could apply to non-racers...but Strikers Charged proved wrong the randomness.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Too bad soccer in Sports Superstars is just generic boring Soccer.
Maybe there should be Mario Sports Charged that applies the Strikers aesthetic to all the sports.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. It's not being made by Next Level Games, so that's to be expected.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Space Pirates wouldn't race in cars, they'd race in miniature wooden pirate ships.
Like that one Kart based on Bowser's airships, but space-themed.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Like the boarding pods from the opening of Metroid Prime 3?
I sure said that!I don't like what I've seen of Mario Odyssey so far. The city and people look out of place. I also don't like that it looks like they're moving away from the 3D Land/World style and going with more of an open world type of game.
Mario is about getting to the end of the level not exploring an open world.
Mario spans far too wide a range of games to say it's about or not about any one thing.

Trans rights are human rights.Though in recent years, I'd say it's about jazzy soundtracks that are absolutely wonderful.
I sure said that!Mario is a general platformer...he doesn't have a gimmick, he can work in any genre of platforming.
Linear, Open, Explorative, 2D, 3D, Short Single Screen, Regular, Collect-a-thon...anything.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Not to mention that Mario exploring a (more or less) open world has been done already with Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Odyssey is just going back to what these games did, which is a VERY nice change of pace, imo.
I'm pretty sure at some point there's gonna be an obligatory New Super Mario Bros Switch too, though
I HOPE there isn't a NSMB on the switch, not because I wouldn't want another 2d mario platformer but because I want some actual effort put into it and the name is tainted.
Create a differently named subseries and give it some more to work with, like a less bland aesthetic, some different playable characters like Wario, and more interesting level design with secrets and stuff like Super Mario World.
What's the point of making a "new" subseries of 2D Mario games when it's just going to be NSMB with new aesthetics and more playable characters?
I'd rather see the new aesthetics and playable characters be put into NSMB itself.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Because the "New" branding has become synonymous with "rehash everything you can."
And that includes graphics.
@Grounder: Then why do people want Metroid Prime 4 for its gameplay alone when Dark Samus/Metroid Prime is dead and Phazon is eliminated?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. What does that have to do with anything?
Because "Prime" still works as an adjective applied to the game itself to give it a separate identity from the main 2D games. I'm pretty sure they chose that name for the title before they decided to name the final boss that.
Whereas "New" is somewhat inapt at this point thanks to it not being very new anymore.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!@Anomalocaris: "New" still works as separating that subseries from the main Mario series, which has been in 3D since 1996.

There's no need to generalize. I very much oppose having a Prime 4 for the same reason I have opposed having a Galaxy 3 or Sunshine 2 or a NSMB 6. There comes a moment when it's best to move on and present a fresh concept. The core gameplay can still be the same, but why are we still seeing the same rehashed settings that weren't even new for the first NSMB (the grassland, desert, ice and sky worlds were first seen in SMB 2; the beach/sea and lava worlds in SMB 3 and the forest and mountain worlds in SMW)? Note that they haven't even revisited the giant or pipe worlds from SMB 3, or the Graveyard, Machinery or Space worlds from SML 2.
Thing is, as long as they keep making these "New" games, they won't want to make a truly new 2D game. If they could move on from the Galaxy and 3D bubbles to present a new realm for the 3D lineup, why can't they move on from the NSMB bubble to do the same with the 2D lineup?

They could just use ZSS to get around that. Although, there's also babies driving so....
