I prefer solo games personally, and since 3D World was built with co-op in mind, the level design is noticeably impacted. So that's another part where I prefer Galaxy. But 3D World is a blast with friends.
I'm slowly trying out Sonic games actually, starting with 1. To my amusement I find myself doing better when I approach it like a Mario game.
Sonic 1 has the inability to naturally spin dash. So that makes sense. It requires a bit more timely platforming. This lessens in each game.
A lot of the games have multiplayer, although not much Co-Op outside of that at best. If you ever do bother with 06(I suggest borrowing from a friend or finding it in the low cash bin), I suggest having a partner if the Mach Speed sections get to you. The actual multiplayer, mainly the Co-Op, can be a real blast for that game. It's mostly due to how silly and dumb the glitches are, but it also is pretty easy to work together if you try. Silver is the main cause of these glitches, to no one's surprise.
Sonic Adventure 1 has slight Co-Op, but it's only when playing as Sonic as your partner can control Tails. It has no real multiplayer otherwise. Sonic Adventure 2 has quite a bit of multiplayer, namely the normal modes. No Co-Op is present, but you can do a lot of battles or races with your Chao. I do not know how the 360/PS 3 downloads actually deal with that. In the Gamecube version, all players need a GBA connected to use a Chao other than the ones programmed into the game already. It's kind of weird sometimes.
Before I go on, I don't know what systems you own. Cause I can imagine some games won't be available to you. Sonic Jam is pretty hard to play(if you lack the Saturn or the Game.Com), and Free Riders is the Kinect only(and to my knowledge, it doesn't work on the Xbox One either. :/).
Anyway, yeah, that is true about Co-Op. For 3D platformers, it has to be changed up. 06 ironically figured this out rather well. In the multiplayer Co-Op, they remove certain parts of the courses while keeping them in Single Player. Both actually work pretty well overall. This partially happens in Adventure 2's stages, except that there is no Co-Op, but they are redesigned somewhat for players. Only exception I can think of is the Treasure Hunting stages. I think they aren't reduced, but I forget. Battle Stages for the Shooters are completely different levels redesigned from a specific battle location. There's at least one where you would not fight Eggman/Tails. Then there's an unlockable Kart Racing, which has few stages, two of which are near identical to Rouge and Tails' specific courses related to it.
You think they should age-up Sonic, maybe 18? Change his look to look older.
I got a bunch of Sonic games on Steam, and I have no interest on getting any more. Maybe in a bundle, but on their own I have no interest paying for shit like 06.
What 3D platformers are being made today? There's Mario of course. Then Sonic, with varying levels of quality. Then Ratchet and Clank, though that tends to be more of a shooter. What else?
There's Knack, which, being on the PS4 was criticized for being simple and kiddy when it's perfectly fine as a game.
Sony also has Jak and Sly Cooper. There are actually a ton of 3D platformers being made.
It's just that we're sorely missing the explorational 3D platformer, something I wish for Mario to bring back with a sort of "Super Mario 64 2.0" or even "Sunshine 2.0". I liked the latter's approach of exploring the level, then doing a linear platforming challenge for some missions. That would satisfy both sides who want either an explorational and a linear experience.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I'd rather 3D Mario not get sequels. Immediate stuff like Galaxy 2 or 3D World is fine, but Mario should move on to whatever his next big thing will be. Use different characters or IP's if you want to use those ideas again.
For example, Mario 64 2? Bring back the Ice Climbers. They deserve it, and exploration fits mountain climbers well. Sunshine 2? Do something with Splatoon. Galaxy 3? Rosalina says hi. 3D World 2? Okay, that's a lot more connected to Mario himself, but Toad or Nabbit could still take over.
When I say "64 2.0", I mean that in the sense of "Melee 2.0" or "Brawl 2.0". I don't think it should be a sequel, just designed similarly.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Seeing as how those latter terms are thrown around as insults....
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Well I'm not in the mood for "Galaxy 2.0" or "3D 2.0", so there's that.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Mario 64: Controls really nicely and has this sort of unique charm to it the later games don't quite have.
Sunshine: Best hub world, FLUDD was a neat mechanic.
Galaxy/2: Stunning visuals, great platforming. Also, full-on orchestra!
3D World: Best translation of 2D into 3D, and manages to feel fresh in spite of that.
Not sure which is my favorite, but probably 64.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! When it comes to the 3D Mario games for me,I think 3D world is my favorite. Then Sunshine, then 64 and finally Galaxy(never got too far in Galaxy 2 before it disappeared). I like Galaxy and all,but its actually not my favorite 3D Mario game. There's something about it that I didn't like as much as other ones.Sure Rosalina is a great addition and there are some cool levels here and there, but still,Galaxy ain't all that amazing in my eyes.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Galaxy 2 is my favorite...pure platforming great-ness, along with a lot more awesome music. Such great level design and really great control, so tight and so responsive. I feel that the platforming has been the most satisfying in this game, mainly just because of how simple it is but at the same time can be very challenging and the control just makes pulling off tricky or skilled jumps feel like a real accomplishment. Not using the Spin, is also a very fun challenge to go through the game with.
Super Mario 64 is my second favorite, the exploration based level design and mission style work together really well. Its very fun to just speed through the game, when you know how to get only the stars that you really like getting. The control isn't as tight as Galaxy's but, its not as limited as Galaxy's either and because of that...this game's control allows you to pull off some pretty cool tricks to access some stars early.
Super Mario Galaxy...I like this game more than 3DLand and Sun Shine. I don't like the music in this game as much as Galaxy 2, but I do think that it has a lot More levels that are fun to Replay. The Cosmic Races are some of my favorite missions in the game and the bosses are fantastic.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Mario Maker will have Mario and World artstyles as well. Just got confirmed at TGA.

Mario and World?
The Protomen enhanced my life.Bleh. Mario 3.
Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World artstyles.
I think they also changed the physics because they included the ground pound maneuver.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureMan, the more I see of Mario Maker, the happier I am. When I was a kid, I used to draw out strategy guides for games that existed only in my imagination. Most of the time, they were Mario platformers. And now Nintendo's finally letting me do this for real. Eight-year-old Dr. Furball would've FLIPPED upon hearing about this. The fact that the graphics and mechanics of my two favorite Mario games are available just makes it even better.
I wish I still had those homemade books. I wonder how my levels from back then would translate into actual gameplay?
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Sometimes, I dream I'm playing old school platformers that never actually existed. They're pretty much always either Mario or Donkey Kong games, and the level layouts are always pretty bizarre.
Often, they take the form of 'secret games', games big enough to warrant their own cartridge that are instead stuck into another game and left there for the player to find. You have to do some sort of combo at the first game's main menu, and then the screen would scroll over and BAM, you're at the main menu for a completely different game.
Desperate for feedback, please visit Troper Page for links! For some reason I wasn't able to post earlier, but now, here's the new Mario Maker trailer for your convenience:
All they need to make now are Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and all of the All-Stars art styles.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I do wish for a Super Mario World 2 art style.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI don't know enough shadow puppets.◊

How would that work? That's actually a Yoshi game, not a Mario game.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. They said they were open to using assets from other games that aren't Mario titles.
It was in an interview the day after it was announced.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHave Baby Mario playable. Problem solved.
But they need to program in Yoshi, first.

That's what I love about 64. Since it has almost no linear parts(there's a few things you need to do in order at best), the order you do things in determines exactly what your progression is like. For some players, it might feel like they went a Explore > Puzzle > Explore > Explore route based upon the stages.
And noted, Sterok. For the most part, my biggest enjoyment comes from a game I can actually beat. Not necessarily get every little piece. If I can clear the game, I'm usually going to enjoy it more than a game I can't clear at all. There's always exceptions, of course. I can clearly all of Sonic the Fighters, but not all of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I still like 2 more. A game I can't get very far on isn't going to usually be high on my preferences, but that's not weird for most people. If I can team up with another player to work through a game, I may enjoy it more. It still depends if I like most parts of a game, even if it might have a few annoyances. For Sunshine, I can get further than Galaxy, so I do enjoy it a bit more at times(even if it's controls aren't as tight).
