Its just a random series. That preview was probably something that they're giving because...no actual videos are finished or something.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I just beat Mario Land 2. It was... very different. It wasn't bad, just... different. And floaty.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Both Mario Land games are...different.
Considering they weren't exactly made by the exact same people...it was a different take on the Mario platformer.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Congrats! It took me 18 years to beat it!
The Protomen enhanced my life.So you know in Super Mario 64 when Peach says that she's baked a cake for Mario?
But at the ending, she says "Let's bake a delicious cake...for Mario..." indicating that she hadn't actually baked it yet?
What if the intro letter to Mario was actually written by Bowser to lure him to Peach's castle?
*REVELATIONARY*

The cake is a lie.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! And that joke is as stale as the cake it was about.
But why would Peach lie to Mario?
Unless SHE was in on it with Bowser too.
Or maybe Bowser just took a short break from dominating the castle to eat the thing?
Trans rights are human rights.Well, he did want her to bake him a galaxy-sized cake back in Galaxy 2 so he may have.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's more likely Bowser ate the cake . For the evulz.
Accept no imitations.
The secret to Bowser's bomb blast has been revealed...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I think I'll make a brief message to those claiming that the linear 3D Mario games are good and maybe preferable to the explorational games.
Yes, linearity is not inherently bad for 3D Mario, but linearity is inherently not as good as the explorational style for 3D Mario.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Your opinion is not objectively correct.
And where the hell did this even come from anyway?

Trans rights are human rights.I didn't say it was a fact. Also, it comes from the linearity vs. explorational debate that's been going on since 3D World (though it began on a small scale since the Galaxy games).
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Well I can say I much prefer Galaxy over 64, and linearity is a part of that. I'm not fond of running around trying to figure out where to go or what to do in a Mario game. Mario is always linear with a few secrets off the beaten path with one or two exceptions. So yes, I do feel the linear trend is superior for 3D Mario.
I figured that much out, thanks, but it's not like anyone said otherwise in this thread recently as far as I'm aware? What exactly is the point of trying to incite an argument out of nowhere?
Oh, here we go...

Trans rights are human rights. Not saying that exploration platformers are bad, just that they don't fit the brisk pace Mario games tend to have. Ironically, an exploration 3D Yoshi game would probably be appropriate, seeing how those games are much slower and more collection focused.
That or a 3D Wario game, though that series can go both ways.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!@Perseus: There's nothing interesting going on in this thread; might as well start an argument.
@Sterok: Well, I love figuring out going around the level exploring places figuring out what to do. Though I think that 64 reached Guide Dang It! levels at times ("Blast through the Wall"? Which wall?).
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. There's only 2 walls you can blast directly at...it made sense after looking it up.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.since galaxy 2 is my favorite 3d mario, i think it's safe to say i'm more than fine with linearity.
i feel that the linear obstacle course design in galaxy 2 allowed each planet to be a lot more focused around specific ideas which led to more variation and interesting gameplay. i prefer that over the "hub-world" approach in sunshine and 64; the exploration in those games isn't really that substantial in the actual levels. it's usually more engaging in the hub worlds.
the exploration-based style is far from bad but i think it belongs more in games like banjo (which i actually like more than m64).

Silly as it is, I really disliked how straightforward Galaxy 2 was.
I mean, the hub was damn near pointless, they may as well have just not had one.
@Waxing Name: I might be reading too deep into this, but...That came off as condescending. I'm sorry if you didn't mean it to be like that, but that really did feel mean-spirited. That what you're saying is a rebuttal to anyone who claims that the linear 3D Mario games are good.
I'm fine with both. The linear games follow the formula of the 2D Mario games given an extra layer of depth, and a lot more opportunity for the level design.
