I've been aware of KOTH for many years. I've known the names of a few of a characters, but I hadn't gotten into it until now. Thank you, Adult Swim.

All I can say is...

WHY WAS THIS CANCELED?!

This is one of the best sitcoms I've ever seen!

If there's an internet forum for fans of the show, PLEASE link me.

Wikipedia says it was canceled to make room for The Cleveland Show. I thought it was because Luanne's voice actor died or something.

I didn't think the later seasons were anywhere near as good as the earlier ones. The emergence of Lucky as a major character was an awful move IMO.

Well, the show was okay. It was definitely a step up from the WACKY RANDUM humor of Family Guy and later seasons of The Simpsons, but it still had its problems (Mike Judge shoving his morals into the story using Hank, Lucky, Flanderization, Peggy).

All in all, it wasn't that bad. I still don't like how Adult Swim is using its recently acquired hour of programming it took from Cartoon Network to air the show all of the time. Come on, can't they put in something like Superjail or Metalocalypse or some anime? Yes, I know Adult Swim hates anime with a passion. A guy can dream.

King of the Hill lasted much longer than it should have (Judge should have ended it at six seasons rather than making it the Franchise Zombie that it became). In fact, the bigger question is "Why did it keep going?" Fox obviously wanted to kill it (moving it to the dreaded 7:30 pm Eastern time slot and not airing some episodes) and Judge was busy with a film career during the later seasons so why did they keep it going?

Everyone talks about how the the later seasons sucked (yes they weren't as good, but I maintain there were still some gems), but I hardly hear anyone talking about how great it was at it's peak. I also may be the only person who likes Peggy, I mean I'd hate someone like that in real life, but everything people complain about her is exactly what makes her entertaining as a character!

I dunno. As the series went on pretty much everything Peggy said/did had me grinding my teeth in pure annoyance.

The only Peggy episode I liked was the one where she was on trial in Mexico.

Randomly bumping to say i was watching the "Buckley's Angel" episode this morning, and was thinking "those other girls in beauty school were really the meanest people to show up in series." I mean, even Chane Wasanasong had some later semi-redeeming moments (enough to show that he was more than just a bully, though not the nicest kid either), but those three girls in the beauty academy were just trashing poor Luanne in a way that was way over the line.

Who mocks someone about their boyfriend dying in an explosion?

Otherwise that episode was great, like the scene with Buckley's Angel in the car. "Jesus told me to tell you that you suck at beauty school, but he worded it nicer. Oh, here's a note. "Luanne, you really suck at beauty school." Wow, he underlined really. I guess it wasn't nicer."

Wikipedia says it was canceled to make room for The Cleveland Show. I thought it was because Luanne's voice actor died or something.

Whoever put that there is full of crap. King of the Hill was originally slated to end after the tenth season. Crappy timeslots are what killed the show, not Cleveland.

Wikipedia says that the cancellation coincided with the announcement of The Cleveland Show, and that The Cleveland Show would be in that time slot. The page does not state that the show was cancelled to make room for The Cleveland Show.

So I know that this thread has not been active in a long time, but this is something that Im curious about: Why do people hate Lucky?

My favorite moment from the show is from the episode "Not In my Back Hoe" when Hank performs Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler" with his new friend, Hal. Hank is usually so uptight that it's nice to see him relax and have fun.

[up][up] While across the board Lucky seems like a decent upstanding guy, seems like people dislike him for his less than stellar looks, his sole source of income being a slip and fall guy, and the fact that Luanne left the trailer park life behind, but look who she ends up marrying.

Question about the "Cops And Robert" episode

Dale is fired from a Hooters-type establishment for handing out free appetizers and desserts without ringing them up.

In real life would a restaurant just fire an employee for doing that or would the restaurant also force the ex-employee to repay the money for the free appetizers and desserts?

I guess it depends on the restaurant and if the food wasn't meant to be freely given out.

And speaking of Dale, what's your favorite conspiracy theory? Mines is "The military has resorted into turning the rank and file into walruses with an vaccine in order to prepare them for artic warfare. And Bill is one of them!"

In "Year Of Washing Dangerously", Buck Strickland drives to Hank's house to complain that there's nobody at Scrubby's Car Wash to show off his jalopy to.

Bing.com defines jalopy as "an old car in a dilapidated condition"

Buck's 1969 Plymouth Barracuda certainly wasn't in a dilapidated condition. Buck just bought the Barracuda when women didn't seem interested in his previous car. The Barracuda does indeed appear to be a chick magnet as the episode shows two women twice joyriding with Buck in the Barracuda.

Either Buck or Bing.com has an incorrect definition of "jalopy".

This Thursday (August 30, 2018), the Cowboys play the Texans in their final preseason game.

In the episode "Queasy Rider", Hank said supporting the Cowboys and Texans would only be an issue in an All-Texas Super Bowl

Strange that Hank could have a life-long obsession with the Cowboys without noticing that the Cowboys play a certain amount of AFC teams every regular season. Not to mention that the Cowboys and Texans could meet any year in the preseason.

I don't get the ending of the "Grand Theft Arlen" episode

Video game programmers tell Peggy only two things stop a gamer from gaming: boredom or humiliation.

Peggy devises a scheme to humiliate Hank into giving up gaming but she only beats him using a invincible "Commissioner's Mode".

Why should Hank be embarrassed if he only lost through an unfair advantage?

Yeah, about that...

[up]x3: Slang can be weird at times and some people can get their words mixed up.

[up]x2: I'm not an sports nut, but I know Hank is wrong. Mainly because the Super Bowl is an tournament where an few teams get weeded out beforehand and there's quite a few leftover. And while I only know the names of 3 or 4 teams, but I think there's around 20 of them.

[up] You have pride, shame, the reality that he couldn't win and the ensuring hopelessness. All of these is why I gave up World of Tanks.

And seriously, how hard is it to install an quote button?

Today's Super Bowl party in Arlen will be held at Bill's House

I could be wrong but I believe Hank mentioned in The Manger Babies episode that the Super Bowl party rotation is always: Bill, Hank, Dale & Boomhauer. Hank mentions that Boomhauer hosted the party for Super Bowl XXIV (49ers-Broncos in New Orleans in January 1990).

Hank claimed in the Manger Babies episode that the only mystery about the Super Bowl would be the margin of the NFC victory. I believe Manger Babies premiered in January 1998, the month of Super Bowl XXXII (Broncos-Packers in San Diego) that began a streak of 9 AFC Championships in 12 years.

It was the following year with Super Bowl XXXIII (Broncos-Falcons in Miami) that Fox aired a Super Bowl ad in which Hank and his 3 giblet-head friends agreed to go "The Full Monty" in exchange for Super Bowl tickets. It's implied they don't get the tickets because Dale cheated by keeping his underwear on.

[up][up] I've enjoyed King of the Hill when I was younger but as I grow older i've noticed that it seems to have a rather close-minded overly conservative bent to it. Also something rubbed me the wrong way when the guy hosting the video complained about "SJ Ws".

On the subject of KOTH, does anyone think Boomhauer was an unexplored character? IIRC there were only two episodes focusing on him, and both were about his love life. We never learned that much about the character, heck, Khan had more of a character than Boomhauer.
