My Metroidvania experience is rather limited to the Metroid series, Simon's Quest, and SOTN.
I actually just discovered a way to play some classic Game Boy games online without having to download an emulator. I'm going to definitely use it to play Pokemon
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! So, played Metroid Prime now for about an hour and a half.
Really love the atmosphere, it's quite creepy and already had me on edge at points.
Also enjoy the beginning with a ship full of dead things, one corpse description has already really struck out to me,
Species: Chozo
Death caused by removal of internal organs.
..Nice.
Thanks to the scanning feature, however, I've already found myself obsessive compulsively scanning everything! It's making me wish there was just one button that lets you scan things, instead of a separate screen that's a bit visually impairing.
The music's putting me on edge too, the first area I found myself always glancing around, because the music sounded like something was crawling around and chasing me. Same with Chozo Ruins too, the high pitched tones every now and then had me looking around for something trying to attack me.
So far it's pretty fun! Finally getting to play my first real Metroid game that's not Other M!

Even with these awkward wings, dyed with images that seem to stay. I'm sure we can fly, on my love! 3DS Friend Code: 2809-9138-8756Nice! That itch to scan everything is a good thing, by the way. You must nurture your habit until it becomes full-blown addiction. Only then have you masted the way of Samus Aran.
Oh, and that's a Space Pirate corpse, not a Chozo. There's no Chozo corpses on the Frigate (Or anywhere in-game, for that matter).

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh crap, you're right, got the names mixed up! It was a Space Pirate.
Even with these awkward wings, dyed with images that seem to stay. I'm sure we can fly, on my love! 3DS Friend Code: 2809-9138-8756Prime 1 easily has the best atmosphere of any of the games. You haven't seen anything until you've hit Phendrana Drifts.
Echoes is considerably harder than the other two but I still found it to have great ambiance in several areas and was highly enjoyable. It also has one of the best lines in the entire series and is one of the greatest proofs in regards to Samus having a personality before Other M. The final boss is also quite awesome and its final Suit upgrade is my all time favorite.
Corruption is also amazing in a large number of ways. It's a really good example of how a story-focused Metroid game should be.
Dammit, now I want to play the games again.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's been a long while since I last picked up Prime 1, but playing it again now, especially having more of a background on older games in the Metroid series, it's actually quite brilliant how well they managed to capture the signature atmosphere of these games. It must have been a revelation for fans of Super Metroid and such back when it first came out. I can't believe it's more than a decade(!) old, it's aged so well, even taking into account that the original didn't have the slick motion controls.
I can't speak for Prime 2 since I haven't played it yet, but even though 3 had more of the same great gameplay, atmospherically I seem to remember it feeling almost like a Halo game or something at times. Not bad necessarily, just different.

So, I wonder when Nintendo will announce more Wii titles for download now that the first three are out the gate?
I'm debating on what to buy with any probable Valentine's Day money...either I save up to download Pikmin 3, I download some Wii game (like Punch-Out or Prime Trilogy), download a GBA game, or purchase an Amiibo for Smash Bros.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Tangentially related to the Prime series, why does the on foot portion of the Metroid minigame in Nintendo Land require Motion Plus controls when it shares effectively the exact same basic point and shoot mechanics, and Prime Trilogy doesn't require Motion Plus?
Back to the Youtube Revenue Sharing: People aren't at all happy with it.
Metroid Prime really has aged amazingly well. It still looks really nice, too.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Live in America? Want more Amiibos but can't find them anywhere at sane prices? No worries. Just book a flight to Hamburg and you'll be able to find a copy of every Amiibo you want.◊
~Jaw drops~
What store is that?
No idea. Some place in Hamburg apparently. Google search the image and you might be able to figure it out.
Still really irritated about the shortages. I've got Bowser, Toon Link, Mega Man, and Meta Knight pre-ordered, but I was unable to get Shulk or Rosalina. And even then, only Bowser and Toon Link have been confirmed to ship to me. In March. I really hope I don't lose my Meta Knight. That one is going to be hell to find.
Yeah, the shortages are stupid and scalpers are just making it worse. Nintendo should be embarrassed that they let it get this bad.
I love Dorkly.
Is this a Jo Jo reference?I'm not surprised, but at the same time, Publishers have the right regardless how Let's Players feel about it.
Total Biscuit isn't too fond of this idea:
Don't reviews/Let's Plays/Countdown Videos fall under fair use?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! They may or may not have the right to it, but that doesn't make it any less ludicrous. With so many gaming companies giving so much liberties to content creators, doing this kind of stuff mostly serves to hurt Nintendo in the PR department.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I wish Nintendo had eyes on other companies' choices, since it seems that the other companies know exactly what Nintendo is doing.
One guy even said this:
"It always looks like Nintendo does everything to be unpopular. They are unable to evolve and adapt, they have not understood youtube, they have not understood what people wanted for wii u(and thus they have failed)....
Nintendo needs to stop digging its own grave."
Depends.
Fair Use is tricky because it all comes down to how much of the content you're uploading and even moreso when you're trying to monetize it. Reviews technically do, but if you're revealing majority of the work like most Channel Awesome contributors tend to do, you technically are guilty of copy right infringement.
Let's Plays typically show the entire game. And to be completely honest, using the "It's free advertising" argument is just as fallacious as the "no one will buy it if you upload it" argument.
I specifically said I was discounting secrets. For just beating the game, you don't have to do anything too absurd.
