While it does look amazing, there's the fact that it's a jarring tie-in to EVE Online. I'm not a fan of getting one game of a completely different genre to connect to another.

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Why not?
Just as if a story universe grows big enough, it's spinoffs can become a different genre,so can games.
EVE is a huge universe. If they want to make a good FPS spinoff, I say have at it.
Well, I suppose it's because they advertised that it directly links up with EVE Online accounts as well. It's a direct tie-in, even though it's a spin-off in a completely different genre, so it kinda feels like you have to get both games in order to get the full experience.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Nah. Of course that's how it might seem, but no spinoff will succeed unless it can stand on it's own two feet.
Also, does anyone know about any subscription fees? I'm hoping there won't be any. If there is, I might just give in this time.
What I want to know is this: If Ev E online is being tied into this how are they gonna do maps? Randomly Generated? have a large set to rotate between various planets?
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. The trailer has a starmap.
probably one map per planet type. Don't own a ps3 but if I have some money lying around I might buy one for this to grief my old corp if at all possible.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?WHY IS THIS A PS 3 EXCLUSIVE. THAT'S NOT FAIR.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."New info

interesting point
- ust players will share the same chat channels, will be able to join the same corporations and be involved in the same rivalry and backstabbing shenigans that grabs gaming headline news every month or so.
- a PC EVE Online player flying a space ship could see and communicate with a PS 3 player shooting on the ground of the planet.
... So it's basically giving the same events from two different perspectives?
... I take back my skepticism. This could possibly work.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I just hope the ground combat doesn't turn into another Battlefield/COD clone

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. What do you define as clone? It's more likely to be like MAG.
Bit of a bump, but existing EVE players with PSN accounts can submit an application for the closed beta through the link on this page.
Honestly, I'm kinda skeptical as to whether this will work out or not, but if it does I think it'd be awesome. For those who don't know, in EVE Online players set up mines and factories on planets to extract resources that are refined into components for starbases and Tech Level 2 ships, modules, weapons, fuel, and ammunition. Currently, planetary structures are just presented as rather cheaply animated "holograms" and the only way to interfere with industrial players in sectors that aren't controlled by player factions is to find and down their cargo ships before they can get the components to the market.
While you can't colonize space held by another alliance, you CAN colonize it before it falls and still retain your structures AFTER the alliance claims the territory. With something like DUST, alliances just might be able to completely eliminate competitors from their territory. Of course, if there's constant fighting over planets, it'll drive the Tech-II component prices through the roof as well, which will eventually trickle down to the PLEX market[1-month subscriptions that can be bought and traded with in-game currency] and drive it even higher.
-nod in agreement-
I foresee everything related to planets going waaay up in price come dust. I'd start stocking up on materials related to it and holding at least 50% of your daily output in reserve, if you're not doing so already.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?gameplay with Orbital Bombardment
in case you miss it it will be F 2 P

Wow, while I was hoping for some orbital massacre action, didn't expect them to put it in the game.
Looks like they're using that Aurum currency they put in EVE some time ago to fund things in DUST, eh? At an equivalent of about $80, I expect that monocle to shoot death beams. . .

Kind of... underwhelming, especially given how powerful warships are supposed to be in EVE. But I guess that's gameplay and story segregation for you!
Alternatively they don't want to blow up installations and their people. That would get expensive. I wonder how much cross-platform market manipulation will be possible. Will troopers be able to hold planets hostage thereby increasing the price of planet goods?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?there is also been discussed that Dust player can set up anti ship cannon on the planet. so Dust user can launch "Bombardment" form planet to enemy Ship
Does Dust 514 take place in "matches/rounds" with maps, or can players go around on the planets? If it's the latter, I am interested. I always wanted that kind of game.
former i think (you jump between planet)
if you want latter there is always Planetside 2
Just when I thought I had PI figured out (well, not really), they go and add this.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.
This looks crazy awesome. Similar to Halo, but updated. Though it looked a lot like Halo. Looking at the trailer, you see SPARTA Ns, Warthogs, and ODS Ts. But, it's PS 3 exclusive.
As long as the subscription doesn't cost much or even better, if it's free, I'll likely get it.
