hal doesn't really count he was geoff johns pet character and it was clear at least up until the third army stuff this was all planned before the new 52 stuff was set in stone
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."Well, even Hal Jordan is more of a dumb fratboy type than he was before the reboot, and he's clearly not the experienced GL of many years that he had been prior to Flashpoint.
The goalpost moving is strong in this one.
I'm totally not Grant MorrisonI always wondered if making Hal into a Butt-Monkey was Johns' way of acknowledging the way some people complained about him being a Creator's Pet and exhibiting signs of Hype Backlash.
That's certainly a possibility. Making him Sinestro's sidekick was a bit much though.
Hal's definitely forgotten a lot (or been regressed in age and experience a lot in the New 52) and become a lot less capable. During Rebirth, when Sinestro was pulled into the anti-matter universe, Hal knew exactly what had happened. Fast forward to the early issues of the New 52 series, and Hal had no clue what was happening when the same thing started happening to him. He assumed Sinestro had tricked him somehow.

While I'm mourning the present, erm, minor mishandling of my beloved Czarnian, could anyone recommend a more freeform DC troublemaker to currently look into? Someone neither cape nor straight crook? The early Phantom Stranger was decent, though I've lapsed for some time now. And Drifter and Deathstroke's solos were cut pretty short. So, anyone else fitting that or a similar mold?
Thanks, looking forward to it.

deathstrokes getting another book
Not every character, but enough to count as a majority.
