People who actually live in hot, arid climates wear long, thick clothes for a good reason, and that is to keep in moisture and keep out dust.
Just throwing that out there.
Also, when I saw "warrior horsemen" I immediately thought Eorlingas from The Lord Of The Rings.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.Cowboys and the Taliban?
This is this.Mexican gangbanger mujahadeen?
Morgulion is correct!
and melloncollie gets some credit as well.
But yes, I'm sure someone will take offense to this depiction of cowboys.
BTW they will fight the modern professional armies of... get this... a pseudo-Middle Eastern nation.
Oh the stereotypes just keep on coming.

So that was the whole point of this thread? You must be joking.
Has ADD, plays World of Tanks, thinks up crazy ideas like children making spaceships for Hitler. Occasionally writes them down.Well actually no.
I now want to know if you have done role reversals in your stories as well.

Well, in a setting where vampires have to kill people to survive, I had a callous Chessmaster vampire slayer up against a caring vampire detective who hunts slayers. So inverting the 'guys on the good side act like good guys' thing. And the vampire detective inverts What Measure Is a Non-Human?, since he doesn't mind humans dying (they were going to die soon anyway) but views the death of a vampire as a great tragedy.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.
Ok here is a hint, it is contrasting stereotypes.
"These desert wandering warrior horsemen clad in long sleeveless outer garments. On top of their heads are large brim hats to keep out the shade. Their noses and mouths are covered by a bandana to keep out the dust. Their weapons are usually old assault rifles with an occasional anti-armor rocket launcher. After a victorious battle or as a cheer prior to engagement, one can hear from them a long shrieking battlecry."
