"Use the Troper Tales filter on the 'wiki edits' page."

To find added troper tales.

Just thought I should point out that the archives for pages that were split for length (into media types or alphabetically) aren't accessible, because the new pages aren't split. Can this be fixed?

Looking at that now.

So, does adding a rule to prohibit people from adding themselves unless it's a roleplay or something sound good? That'd emphasis the anecdotal purpose of the namespace, and would hopefully fix the majority of problems it has.

[up] Eh...no. I'm not a fan of that rule. That would knock out pages like Author Appeal and Writing By The Seat Of Your Pants.

We'd have exceptions, of course.

Not sure I understand. The point of TT is for people to add personal examples. Many tropes are forbidden from this, of course, due to squicky/fetishy/illegal subject matter, but it's not a general rule.

The idea would fix the issue of people focusing more on talking about themselves then contributing sincere examples, and the ego-stroking/sympathy-fishing/Complaining/bile/creepy shit/whatever would disappear as well.

For an example, see the TT Moment Of Awesome page for military service*

- most of the examples people praising friends or relatives IIRC. Then compare it to the stupid one about tropers fighting off criminals/bullies or whatever where people start talking about how awesome they are.

late edit: I'm going off of memory here, so I apologize if I'm incorrect.

Hey, could somebody please at least announce on the news that Troper Tales got redone?
I think it would convince people to get their stuff out of archive.

That's why I like the new system of automatically recording your name for all to see. No more anonymous commentary.

Has this discouraged people from writing bad entries, though?

One can only hope. The usage of the new system is probably going to be lower than the old one, for this reason and for the fact that people tend to be Drive By Editors with regards to TT and may never get around to shifting their old entries off of the archive.

Could we create a macro to make it easier for a troper to go through the old entries, tweak them a bit to fit the new standards, then dump them back onto the main Troper Tales page? Only allowing for entries that were signed to begin with, of course.

Ok, take a look at the troper tales for Identical Twin ID Tag. I reported it, but was that right route to take?
