What do you suggest we should say about the specific connotations and symbolism associated with this archetype?
In fairness, that first sentence is a nice, meaty compound sentence.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Is there any pressing reason that Trickster Archetype and Tricksters need to be seperate pages?
I know that the current theory is that Trickster Archetype is the character type and should be used for examples of Tricksters, and that Tricksters is an index, however the fact that Tricksters doesn't have the word "Index" in it, and the fact that it is being confused with the Trickster redirect for Trickster Archetype, means that people are using it on work and trope pages as a trope.
Could we possibly merge these two pages and make them a single Super-Trope with an indexed Sub-Trope list?
If not, than change the name of Tricksters to Index Of Tricksters and switch the Tricksters name to be a redirect for Trickster Archetype.

I could get behind that. Indexes should have that in their name.
Trickster Archetype sounds a lot more general than the description says it is. It would be nice if we could move it to a supertrope and have a Classical Trickster Archetype subtrope for it.
Rhymes with "Protracted."This seems to have been forgotten, so...
What do people think of merging the Tricksters index with Trickster Archetype, making it an indexed Super-Trope?

I think I agree with Troacctid
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Creating a crowner here.
Over a week has passed and the ratio is six:one. Anyone else think the crowner should be called?
We can call it.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Calling.
I've consolidated Tricksters and Trickster Archetype to The Trickster.
Ah, looks good.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Nice. I tweaked the description a tiny bit: Some tricksters won't stop because they're indomitable, but some won't stop because they're just idiots and/or played for laughs. It varies.
I think something should be said about how tricksters exemplify cultural boundaries by transgressing them, and demonstrate the consequences of transgressing traditional boundaries by suffering those consequences themselves. Sometimes the transgression serves to uphold the boundary by pointing out where it is with a neon sign (so to speak) and sometimes the trickster is a catlyst for questioning and chaning an outmodded or inappropriate boundary.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. If we actually end up making a Classical Trickster Archetype then that would definitely have to be on that page. Are we still doing that?
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)That was part of the crowner. I'm going to be away from the internet for a few weeks, so how about you take that on if you want to?
Edit: Also, someone should go through the list of tropes in The Trickster to make sure that they are all actually tropes about types of tricksters.

Most of the tropes on The Trickster page seemed fine to me. The only ones I took out for seeming to not fit the trope were Boisterous Bruiser, Devil in Plain Sight, Eccentric Millionaire, Magical Flutist, Supervillain, and Monster Clown. I was also a bit unsure about whether Trenchcoat Brigade and The Unfettered fit, but I left them for now.

I think so. Someone mentioned wanting to YKTTW a Classical Trickster Archetype trope, but creatinga new subtrope doesn't require a open TRS thread.
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
So The Trickster is a well known archetype with tons of specific connotations and symbolism attached to it and yet it gets three sentences of description? I really don't think it's enough to really describe how this archetype is used. And I think it's causing misuse as I keep seeing it crop up on pages such as Write a Magnificent Bastard as being anyone who is just quick-thinking and adaptable, when that doesn't actually have much to do with the archetype. Furthermore, the Tricksters index is longer than than the Trickster Archetype page and is basically cut and pasted from it. I really think something should be done.
