April 30th, the day when thousands on Tumblr remember Metal Gear's existence. :')
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeHappy GW day! I think I will replay MGS 2 to celebrate.
Heh, I know this is COD related, but I gotta say, this makes for the best unofficial Metal Gear Solid 4 promo vid ever:
I'm trying to Big Boss rank MGS 2, and oh my fucking god, fuck this game, everything was going so smooth right until it changed me to Raiden.
I didn't have nearly this much trouble getting Big Boss rank in Twin Snakes and Foxhound rank in Solid 3.
Edit: Jesus, I just assumed this was just like the other Metal Gears when it comes to Big Bossing it, but you can only save 8 times?!
Nope.
No no no no, fuck that, I don't like Solid 2 THAT much.
If you can do this, you're my fucking hero, holy shit.

What do you mean you can only save eight times, what?!
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeDoesn't really bother me, as when I play, I rarely save unless I have to go somewhere.
To get Big Boss rank in Solid 2, you have to beat the game in Extreme or Euro Extreme without Alerts (except those the story forces you), with no kills, without using Rations, with the Radar off, possibly under a certain quantity of shots fired, in less than 3 hours, without using Continues, without using Special Items and you can only save the game up to eight times.
There is an insane amount of requisites compared to the other games, which are usually: don't be found, don't be killed, don't kill, don't use rations, don't take too much unnecessary damage, don't save like crazy (the limit in Solid 1, 3 and Twin Snakes is 20 or less I think) and do it fast.

I have been reading various analysis as well as seen some playthroughs of MGS 2. Although I knew that the game was polarizing, I had no idea that the game was that polarizing that fans will not acknowledge its existence as the 'true' sequel to MGS 1. Fans got trolled, Critics got trolled, the whole gaming community got trolled and Kojima basically got what he wanted. Nowadays, most gamers aren't as shocked at the game as we now know that we are not going to play as Snake and the events of MGS2 may or may not be an illusion. The game was impressive for its time and it is strangely prophetic what with the whole Meme theory, now the internet is evolving at an alarming rate as well as censorship. MGS 2 is pretty much polarizing but it isn't as shocking nowadays as fans, haters and new players know what to expect nowadays.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."The year is 2014. The U.S. Military is developing brain chips to treat PTSD.
Kojima is God.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Of course, that this is being developed is nothing special. DARPA's job to basically develop on every idea they get handed, "just in case". Whether it works is what matters- And we know so little of how such things occur in the first place that I very much doubt it.
I sure said that!I suggest they develop a nuclear-equipped, walking death-mobile. Just in case.

#IceBearForPresidentNo! No more innovations in nuclear weapon technology! We have enough as it is! >_<
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The "walking death-mobile" part would be pretty neat, though.
Since nobody else seems to be sharing this bit of info here (or I'm going blind), I might as well share the fact that Konami's apparently given the okay for a mod team to remake MG1.
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeQuick question, is Reveangance canon or not?
Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiny. How canon MG 1 is by this point is more of a question.

I think everything before Metal Gear Solid is broad strokes at this point, if only because of the sheer number of retcons
Oh really when? The general plots of them are still canon, but pretty much every damn detail under that has been altered or removed on some level.

I actually didn't realize today is April 30th until about just now.
