Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

My thoughts exactly.

GIVE ME YOUR FACESo apparently an Oklahoma lawmaker who tried to push through an anti-trans bill with the "protect women and children" justification got arrested for child prostitution.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Oh the irony. Makes it more obvious their crusading is usually an attempt to cover up their own bullshit.
It doesn't matter. It's never about protecting kids, anyway.
Classic Psychological Projection.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAbout protecting kids. Proof that (some parts of) Georgia learned nothing from N. Carolina's experience. (There's common decency too, but that's so passe).
Georgia governor opposes changes to adoption bill critics see as discriminatory
The governor said the provision, adopted last week in a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting, could scuttle an otherwise “good bill” that aimed to update the state’s adoption rules.
The changes to House Bill 159 were done over the objections of its sponsor, state Rep. Bert Reeves, R-Marietta. The new addition to the measure has ignited a new debate over legislation pushed by some religious conservatives after lawmakers sidelined a broader “religious liberty” proposal.
Supporters say the changes could boost the number of adoption agencies that will work with the state while allowing private adoption agencies more leeway to pursue their faith-based missions. Critics cast it as legalized discrimination and promised a bitter fight to oppose the measure.
The governor is (hinting at) opposing the bill yes. note I was referring to the rep. who proposed it.

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesThe language is a bit confusing, there. The governor is opposing an amendment to the bill that would allow state-funded adoption agencies to discriminate against gay couples? Good on him.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, as far as I read he vetoed some previous "religious liberty" bill, and threatens to oppose this one despite it having other improvements if the bad isn't taken out of it.
'Bathroom Bill’ to Cost North Carolina $3.76B, AP Analysis Finds
NC's bathroom bill will likely be repealed now, but at the cost of the NC dems giving in to the republican's demand that no additional protections for LGBT persons are to be allowed to be proposed until the year 2020.
They're counting on Trump making life hell for LGBT people during those years. Fuck Republicans.
Oh really when?Last time they reneged at the last minute. So I am not sold on this. May be another scam.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe thing is that the political damage from the "bathroom bill" has been ramping up against NC Republicans. Why should Democrats relent on that pressure before they capitulate entirely? The blame for any bargain or compromise will fall on the Democrats, not the Republicans.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"They are also on a deadline-they have to do something immediately or the NCAA ultimatum will go into effect and the state will lose a staggering chunk of revenue from College Basketball boycotting the state.
More than they have already? My earlier linked report said that they'd already lost money that it was too late to recoup.
That was ongoing-report I read yesterday projected financial losses over the nest few years to approach 4 billion. And the NCAA had a deadline somewhere around today where they would pull out of the state if the law was still in effect.
The Dems should give no concessions, or if they do they should backtrack on them the moment the repeal has passed, just to spite the Republicans.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranReported that the repeal bill has been passed and signed by the governor. Republicans are hailing the "compromise".
Gonna be a long road to 2020.

Of course, Dems could also later claim the compromise was under duress and decide to respect it as much as the NC Republicans did the previous "compromise"...

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Ugh, all of this crap, all of this misery, all of this political bullshit...all because a bunch of miserable transphobic bigots in NC decided "small government" doesn't apply to restrooms.
Disgusted, but not surprisedSome potentially good news:
"North Carolina 'bathroom bill' replacement could doom similar bills in other states" - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-north-carolina-lgbt-states-idUSKBN172024
The removal of HB 2 may well kill the momentum of similar bills in other states.
See, from what I am reading it ain't a proper "repeal". More like half-work to make the complaints stop.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYou may be right. Still, a step's a step and it does seem to be having consequences on other such bathroom bills. So that's a plus.
