Hello everyone.

Well, I've been rather sick lately, so I haven't been able to play so often.

And as for my focus on world-building and plot development, I guess you're right. I could flesh out Nicole's character a bit more. I haven't really explored Nicole's past in great detail, but she wants to be silent about it. I will explore it more as the story progresses, but it's something I'll open up bit by bit. I was also thinking of Nicole having a romantic relationship with one (or possibly more) of the male characters. But I guess she doesn't fully trust them yet.

Yeah, a romantic subplot would work well.

EDIT: Hey, I was thinkin' about how everyone will all eventually develop some powers after spending time in the nightmare world. I already metnioned a slight boost to Damien's reaction times and aim, but I thought of something to make him slightly more effective in combat. Whenever he really, really wants to kill something, his bullets get...imbued, so to speak, with his killing intent, which makes them harmful to the more supernatural denizens of the Nightmare World. Initially, this only happens when he thinks he or someone close to him is about to die, but eventually he learns to focus it. If it seems to overpowered or sudden, I can scrap it, just wanted to make Damien a little more combat-worthy.

Hey. I'm feeling a little better, but I'm still quite ill.

There isn't really much point in imbuing bullets when there would be special bullets lying around that Damien could use.

By the way, Aralyn, was playing fable 3, saw a line you might want to use for Him.

I might be quite busy for this whole week, so yeah...I'll be completely free in the following weeks though, so that's good :D

Edit: I got a weird idea about the dream worlds; in the Nightmare World, they are subjected to the environment that the mad scientist places them in and can only retaliate in ways that their minds believe are realistically accurate, like guns for both Damien and Nicole, and magic and melee weapons for Andre (and screaming for Elanor :), and only if they are able to mentally retaliate the obstacle, which explains why they can't defend themselves from their respective fears; Nicole from the fire, Damien from the hyenas, Elanor from the unknown (and Andre from his brother, but we haven't seen that yet). The environment must also be realistic to an extent, enough so that their minds can accept the world as reality.

However, when a character is dreaming within the Nightmare World, they believe it is a dream, and so the mad scientist can do whatever without undermining their belief that the Nightmare World is reality. Assumingly, the mad scientist will use these dreams to further mind-screw with them. But because the characters believe that this is a dream, they can do whatever as well (once they are lucid and understand the dream...thingy :/) and are able to retaliate the mad scientist within this dream as easily as their imagination can allow. Once they understand this, of course.

So if they are able to, firstly, overcome their respective fears, and secondly, retaliate the mad scientist's attacks, and thirdly, understand that the Nightmare World is just a Nightmare, then they may be able to muster the will to break back into reality.

Funny thing is I actually dreamed this up :O The dream within the dream collapsed pretty quickly though. I suppose the mad scientist has his ways of stabilising them, and their under sedative as well, assumingly :P

Bleh. Random bull. If you do take this theory though, we have to remember that they really, really believe that this is reality, and only think the random hyenas and the fires and stuff are illusions. Essentially, they believe the environment is real. It would take a lot for them to finally realise that, maybe, the world isn't real.

Firstly, that is a theory worthy of Inception. However, it does make sense.

Secondly, IF you haven't played Fable 3, I suggest you do so. This is because once you hear the voice of The Crawler, The one who utters the line I mentioned, you will read every single line from Him in that voice. Seriously, search youtube for The crawler and listen to his voice.

That's a great theory.

I don't think the characters would be sedated, though. Because the mad scientist would assume that the characters would be too engrossed in their dream world to wake up, and so wouldn't try to sedate them. However, the characters would be in capsules, though. Like the capsules in The Matrix.

I also intend on all the characters being naked while in the capsules, and it would be humourous to have the characters wake up to find themselves and their friends naked.

OOC, I'm also still sick, but I'm starting to get over it. It's gonna be ugly to have to catch up on the work I've missed out on, though.

well I hope you feel better, it sucks that we can't move the story very far, but hopefully whatever you're sick with goes away.

Watched a video of the Crawler speaking; perhaps a bit more sweet and lilting for now, since He's still 'tempting' her...but for later, when He's pissed? Definitely :)

For now...have you heard of Erlkonig by Schubert (or more like the poem by Goethe...)? The Elf King has the sort of vibe I'm going for, only a bit less creepy/pedophilic. But the Crawler is a pretty close example anyway :)

I like to imagine the scientist just pressed the "pause" button on the simulation while he went to go get a drink/stretch his legs/take a shit or something.

Finally posted something. Might as well get moving, shall we? We can just say Nicole was lost in thought trying to figure out how to reveal her past, or something.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I had to put it in. Damien isn't gaining precognitive powers nor is he becoming aware of the reality of the situation. It's purely a sight gag, nothing more, nothing less. I'll take it out if DJ really doesn't like it.

The whole "damien suddenly had a vision" thing. It's supposed to reference my earlier post about my own imagining of the scientist taking a shit and pressing the pause button, explaining the lack of posts.

Its...probably not that funny, anyway.

Oh. I have minor issues about the mad scientist looking like a cliche, but it's obviously a parody, so won't complain :] I'm a bit more concerned about an in-universe explanation of the image, but it's really just a shout-out, so I don't think it matters. Unless it becomes a common recurrence :P

Also, just had an awesome Imagine Spot of the group ripping across the wasteland in a humvee, with Nicole at the wheel, Andre flying alongside it, and Damien manning a roof-mounted machine gun (and Elanor in the back).

Sorry, I was suddenly hit with this workload out of nowhere! Managed to finish it easily, of course, so are you better now, DJ? Becuase when we reboot this, I want it to be all of us pushing it along, otherwise the quality of the writing lags :P
