Disney's "Maleficent"

If they're really doing this, dear God I hope it's good... Maybe she'll finally get to live up to being "The Mistress of All Evil." You know, and actually hurt people.

... But - but I just got out of therapy!

Seriously, Malificent was the Disney Villian, as far as I was concerned growing up. And... against all odds... I'm going to be optimistic about this. ...But it's going to be live-action though? ...Why wouldn't they decide on an animated feature?

Any chance this news and the news about Glen Keane living is related in any way?

This was being planned long before Keane left.

Holy cheekbones, Batman.

Well... she certainly looks like Maleficent, I don't think anyone can dispute that. Although those horns look a bit flimsy.

It started shooting today and the expected release date is apparently March 14, 2014. Seems like a helluva long time to me, wonder if it's a typo.

Other people starring are Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Lesley Manville, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Miranda Richardson.

I actually think that Angelina might be a good choice. That woman is kinda creepy.

Fanning, Staunton and Richardson? Okay, sign me up.

And while I haven't seen any of Copely's work, I hear he's quite good.

Honestly, I was skeptical at first, but just knowing they have the look down helps. I mean, it's a small thing, but one of the biggest issues with Alice In Wonderland and even Mirror Mirror was that they never LOOKED like the story they were based on.

At this point, my only worry is the first-time director (whose claim to fame is working on Avatar and Alice).

I liked those movies, so I'm not worried now that I know.

I liked Alice, but not Avatar.

Judging from the people who'll be working on this, however, it'll be closer to the former.

Alice was just... average. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. Same thing with Avatar. Also, I am reeeeaaally tired of the Noble Savage trope.

I can't help but think that this will be Enchanted all over again, except told from the villains POV. I mean, there's no way Disney is going to make this as dark as, say, Snow White And The Huntsman.

Btw, will the Good Fairies be included? I hope so. Let's face it, they owned the original movie.

I think it will be at least as dark as Alice.

Judging by their names on IMDB I'm willing to bet Staunton, Temple and Manville play fairies of some description (They're called Knotgrass, Thistlewit and Flittle, respectively).

It is just me, or do the horns look like they're real? I always thought they were just a headdress or something...

Just realized—Jolie in a Disney movie! How crazy is that, huh?

She's a kickass lady in a movie by a family-friendly company! Not that I'm saying crazy is bad, it just ups the awesome that both of them are!

Okay. It's just that she's done kid-friendly stuff before. Not in live-action, though.

And it's still unclear how kid-friendly this will be...

I always forget about Shark Tale, which is kinda sad seeing as I like that movie.
