Reminds me a story I was thinking of where in the near future of China where the technology for the artificial vagina has been perfected and it quite literally becomes a man's world, there's a few gangs of girls who live on the street doing their best to survive. Ultimately dropped because I don't know enough about Chinese culture to handle such a project.

The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

Yes. An artificial womb, not so much.

You could probably go with "artificial uterus" if you wanted something more scientific. Although, Uterine Replicator was bigger.

[up][up] I didn't, as you suggested. But I had a look at the Wikipedia page. Yeah, that was dumb — it must be the most disquieting thing I ever saw. Not to be crude, but how can people find that even remotely appealing?

Also, this quote is from the Wikipedia page:

The inner sleeves come in flesh (from a variety of ethnicities) and ice/crystal (see-through) as well as a limited edition blue color for an Avatar-like look, and several internal textures.

I wouldn't mind killing gender, it has no purpose in the age of gunpowder and heavy machinery.

Wait...

[up][up][up] I read that as "uterine velociraptor".

On a related note, I read this article a couple weeks ago. It's more of the same, but entirely about India.

Well I'd also like to note that the same people who actually would commit infanticide because of the sex of the child are also pretty much equivalent to backwater evil redneck southern American stereotypes. They're not representative of the Chinese population, but there's still a heck of a lot of them.

It's pretty backwards logic. I mean, even if they only care about sons, who the hell do they think is going to give birth to those sons?

Come on now, China (and India) are pretty big places.

The sort of stuff which is being discussed in this thread is barbaric, and the governments of China and India are made this illegal. It's just difficult to enforce, especially in rural areas, but they are trying.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

I added the smiley to denote I wasn't serious.

I won't blanket respect loss all chinese - just the idiots who participate in this dumbass practice. Those people I want to kick in the balls.

I admit I find it a little odd that this thread is more about the lighthearted 'oh noes, no wimminz' aspect and very little about the whole 'infanticide' thing.

Then again, not every topic can be a dead-serious heated topic I guess.

Well, most of it is abortion and not infanticide. Of course, from my point of view (and yours, I think I remember from some other threads) they are one and the same, but this is not something everyone here would agree on.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.
