Probably because I was being deliberately obtuse.

Anyway, what I mean is that the Nightmare Knight has acknowledged that he's Steve. That means that he did create Thebestmaster or whatever and therefore the other guy is probably a pretender, not another interdimensional doomlord or whatever the NK is. Given that we've seen Glitchmaster pull this before, she may be doing it again in order to rouse a rather dim but most likely very powerful ally into action. I suspect he really is very strong, even if he's an idiot, so he'd be quite valuable in that respect.

I don't know. NK's response could be acknowledgement that Steve really is his name. Or he could just be shocked that she knew the name in the first place. And since he's trying to keep Steve's existence a secret, he doesn't bother to correct her assumption that it's his name.

Seems possible. Time will tell, I suppose.

Don't seem like Steve's NK's other name. Steve's more likely the other guy Bestmaster met up with.

My current theory is Steve is NK's darkness personafied, back when he enjoyed conquest, but cast is off from himself and sealed it long ago as a seperate ego

Yeah, my impression of his reaction is that he's not "Steve" (or doesn't like to think of himself that way) but doesn't want to correct her assumption.

I think if Steve was an entirely distinct entity, he would have looked more worried. I could buy that the Steve we saw is another part of himself, though.

You're right. At first I forgot about that and thought she was Pumice, but I think Bacon went into acting after Punisher Pumice was already established.

Well this could get really awkward, really fast.

You gotta remember that TV shows are often filmed months in advance. I'm sure they were halfway through this arc before anyone realized the real NK was gonna show up. (Except that's a lie because Bacon didn't get his start acting until the Noisemaster arc).

I'm trying to think of a real life parallel to this (or at least one involving a famous person that's currently deceased) and I've got nothing. Anyone else got one?

Given that they CAN'T have filmed this earlier than the Noisemaster arc, when NK was already revived, this is more like a Ripped from the Headlines episode. A really, really ill-conceived one, since the writers should be worried that the "villain" they're portraying will end up as their ruler soon.
