So I got (again, rented it some years ago) SC IV (PS 3) the other day, and on looking at the character page, I learn that Lord Geo Dampierre exists. How the heck do you unlock this guy?

He's not in IV. He was added in Broken Destiny.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAh. My bad.
So.... favorite characters/fighters in IV, anyone?

I was fond of Zasalamel and Yun Seong, at least in movesets. Shame they had no successors.
every little word and every little stepI haven't really gotten around to trying it out again, but I am a fan of Seigfried and Nightmare. I also like the Alexandra sisters.
Kilik and Yoshimitsu.
Least favorite: Damnpierre note and Patroklos note .
EDIT: Sorry, forgot you said IV. My favorites still stand, although I also kinda warmed up to Siegfried in that game.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyYou forgot that Dampierre was responsible for putting Pyrrha into slavery.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Yeah. But honestly, who cares about Pyrrha?
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I never knew, because I do not own a PSP (That's what Broken Destiny or whatever it was was released for, right?).
Pyrrha, I don't hate outright, but she shouldn't be a playable character. Too much of a D.I.D.

A surprising lot of people. That's what moes do, I guess.
x4
Dampierre is a troll character, though he's not very good against anyone who knows what they're doing. The prone grab does have the potential to hit for a very long time, and that time is extended if the person playing as damp mashes the attack buttons (I think, it's been a while though). I believe it can be counteracted if the person being grabbed also mashes though. A lot of his attacks have a completely random chance of doing one thing or another. Some things can be beneficial, others make it worse for the player playing as Dampierre. That prone grab also has a chance of causing Damp to hurt his fist and take damage, also ending the grab short.
Also, I think he was a gamestop pre-order character or some nonsense like that.

every little word and every little stepI dunno about pre-orders, but you have the option to waste five bucks on his DLC; I know that. Hell, I only bought V out of boredom and curiosity; I'd heard they switched out half the good characters and all but thrown out the story mode, but also heard the CAS system was improved. Bought it for fourteen dollars; pretty sure the fourteen dollars I bought Mercs 2 for ages ago was better spent. :/
As for details, well... :/ I had no in-game way to know anything about his moveset, and had never heard of him, and never bothered to Google tips on beating him. As I said, highest difficulty, so of course he was hard. Actually just beat his Quick Battle self yesterday, matter of fact. Got the achievement for clearing QB the same day.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyWrong game. Go buy V.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Assuming this were correct, what would you guys see as being beneficial for the future of this series? Would you suggest Bandai Namco buy Onimusha or Darkstalkers or something else for potential characters and crossovers, or do you think this developer itself should call it a day due to a string of poor moves and auction off some franchises?
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I don't like thinking about the Achievements/Trophies for Soul Calibur V, only because I've got them all except for wind of battle. If I've done everything there is to do in the game single player, and I've even indulged in quite a few online matches, I've got days of in-game playtime, and I'm not even halfway done with the stupid trophy that asks you to run around a certain distance, then that distance is too damn far.
edited 5th Jul '14 9:02:50 PM by Ryuhza
every little word and every little stepI hope it doesn't only count distance traveled in online matches. If that's so, I think I fought somebody who was working on it. :/ Actually, I hope it counts Quick Battle, Versus, and frigging Training Mode, because that is a stupid idea for an achievement.
Managing to get the one for winning Legendary Souls with an Edge move felt good, though, even if it would've felt better beating it with a Critical.
EDIT: That and the Impact one are gonna take conscious effort, because if you do either thing constantly enough to get the cheevo for it without trying to, you're playing the game wrong.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyNah, it counts offline stuff as well, but it doesn't count offline VS. (aka the mode I played most after I finished everything else) and certainly not training mode. The only way to get it without copious amounts of actual playtime is to use voldo on a specific quick-battle along with a rubber band rig to keep your analog stick walking backwards, and even then you have to reset the battle every so often. At some point you've got to look at what you're doing vs. what you're getting (a digital reward with negligible value), and draw the line, 'cause that stuff is ridiculous.
every little word and every little stepYoshimitsu took quite a while to get used to in 4. That said, my favorite character to use in every game is Sophitia, followed closely by Zas, Talim, and Yoshi in the games they're in. Nightmare is particularly fun to use in IV, though I suppose that's attributed to IV's slower pace compared to the other games (which doesn't really affect Nightmare negatively for obvious reasons).
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageNightmare was never slow though and game pacing doesn't affect characters just how the game is played, SCII is the "fastest" SC game and yet he was top tier in that game. Same with Astaroth in other games.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92Which Tales Series characters (besides Lloyd) would you guys like to see be a guest in a Soul Series game?
Nine years later, and I finally found the name of this song. I'm glad that my copy of SCIII had a preview disc with a trailer for Tales Of Legendia, among other things in it, mainly for the Katamari Damacy demo and this song.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI honestly am not a fan of guest characters in the series. Sure, they get people who aren't familiar with Soul to show interest in it (Link and Ezio being the standout examples), but I personally don't want any focus or dev team effort being taken away from the main cast. And they are really poor additions half the time (hi, Yoda and Heihachi).
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageI find them hit or miss:
- The platform exclusives in II was a good idea, with at least a variety in playstyles, but with mixed results.
- Link was just plain cool.
- Heihachi was from the same company, so at least he had that, but it seemed odd from a story perspective.
- Spawn... Macfarlane Creator's Pet situation. I didn't like that. Still, if his weapon and hover stance could be used for Ashlotte in the future, it'd be worth it.
- III didn't have one, and I was fine with that.
- IV had the star wars characters. Conceptually and logistically horrible, and just blatant schilling. It was my first sign I wouldn't like IV, and almost ruined the concept of guest characters in video games in general for me.
- V had Ezio. A good concept, but I'd have liked to see if there was an assassin from the V time period. Ezio was one of the few things about V that I didn't dislike.
As a concept, guest characters are pretty played out in that they show a lack of faith that the series itself stands on its own. This opinion of mine is mainly based off of IV. Still, while I'm not really a big fan of the concept, I mentioned it because it gave me an excuse to talk about that Tales Of Legendia song.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI think a Tales character would be a horrible choice for a guest character, if just because of the artstyle. Either they look too much like they do in their games and thus look "off" compared to everyone else (compared Angol Fear from IV) or they are converted to SC's artstyle...and instead look like someone from SC cosplaying as the character.
I think Lloyd's guest appearance in Legends suffered from the former.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Perhaps they could put in options to make them in the Character Creator à la KOS-MOS in Soul Calibur 3.
Did Ezio even attract anyone to the Soul Series? I feel like he was wasted, and at best didn't seem too out of place. Link and the Star Wars characters were likely the best additions purely in terms of giving the series attention from other fanbases.

Can I send you a PM explain my reasons for P Ming Otherarrow?
