Every lie you tell you tell yourself.

A fan screenplay written by RebaMacncheese for a potential third Frozen film. In it, Prince Hans returns, claiming a magic sword to use in his quest for revenge against Anna and Elsa. Instead, the sword magically transform Hans into a woman, now named Marie. The newly christened Marie finds herself developing unexpected feelings for Elsa. The story can be read here.

This story contains examples of:

  • The Anti-Nihilist: Olaf ends up as one after working through his existential crisis, realizing there's a sort of freedom in life having no meaning.
Olaf: 'Cause when you exist for no reason, you get to do whatever you want.
  • Brutal Honesty: The Firebird speaks only the truth, with no regards to the feelings of others.
  • Cannot Tell a Lie:
    • Forced on Marie by the Firebird Sword. If she lies, she loses access to the sword's powers.
    • The Firebird itself never lies, to the point of Brutal Honesty.
  • Consummate Liar: Marie is this, managing to circumvent the Firebird's demands to only speak the truth by twisting her words and speaking in half-truths.
  • Existential Horror: Olaf has interaction with the Firebird that makes him question the nature of his existence, which sends him spiraling into existential dread.
  • Faking Amnesia: After being found on the beach by Kristoff and Ryder, Marie pretends to suffer from amnesia in order to get closer to Kristoff.
  • Fiery Salamander: Expanding on Bruni from Frozen II, the volcanic Mt. Mundspell is home to a number of large, lava-spewing salamanders.
  • Flaming Sword: The least of the Firebird Sword's abilities.
  • Gender Bender: Marie is transformed into a woman by the magic of the Firebird, which reveals her true self.
  • Hot Wings: Marie gains these to fly to Mt. Mundspell and unleash it.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is a reference to the song True Trans Soul Rebel.
    • Marie's name is a reference to the character Maria from West Side Story, who sings a song ("I Feel Pretty") that Santino Fontana adapted for the audition that got him the role of Hans in the movie. Marie sings another version based on Santino Fontana's ("I Am Pretty") in the "After-Credits" scene of the fic.
  • Supernaturally-Validated Trans Person: The Firebird Sword transforms Marie into a woman because, as a spirit of truth, the Firebird requires its knight to present their true self.
  • The Phoenix: The Firebird of Slavic folklore features heavily in this story, sealed in the form of a Flaming Sword.
