I really don't SCIV at all so there isn't anything about that game besides Cassandra that I like.

I shouldn't have played SCII again...just ruined SCIV and SCV for me.

I had an arcade near me, but they didn't have it.

There are still Arcades?

I see some at the movie theatre I frequent, but I was under the impression they were more or less dead.

I was at a hotel in Orlando earlier this year that had arcade games by the lobby. That count? :/ Yeah, they're not exactly extinct. Also, Disney has a huge-ass one, but I forget what it's called. All the games you can eat; and some overpriced food, too. Actually saw SCIIIAE there, now I think of it. Played a helluva lot like IV, I thought.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby

Hotels are one of the few places(other than Malls) that still have some Arcades in some areas in the US. They're pretty rare in general, though. You can still find them at some Restaurants too.

Finding fighting games in Arcades is another story. I rarely see more than things like Gauntlet or racing games period now. Maybe really old Arcade games(usually Namco classics, heh).

I used to live near Galloping Ghost Arcade, but unfortunately their Soul Calibur collection machine was down.

If anyone's planning to buy New Legends of Project Soul, here's a sneak peek:

" Cassandra eventually made her way to Ostrheinsburg, Soul Edge's base of operations, but was devastated to find Sophitia barring her path as the cursed blade's protector. With her daughter taken hostage by Soul Edge, Sophitia had no choice but to protect the very thing she once destroyed.... Cassandra was rendered unconscious with just one strike from Sophitia ... Cassandra awoke to a strange and unfamiliar environment. Soul Edge had been destroyed and Astral Chaos, which had been eating at Ostrheinsburg, had begun to rapidly withdraw from this world. Dragging her injured body through the body through the castle, Cassandra was able to find her sister collapsed in one of the rooms. As Cassandra rushed to her sister's side, an astral gate opened up right in front of her. A few moments later, when the effects of Astral Chaos had faded completely, Cassandra was nowhere to be seen."

@ Otherarrow

Talim's "you're human, aren't you" was directed at Necrid, not Lizardman.

The Lizardmen aren't playable in Arcade mode and thus don't have a a Destined Battle.

Can I send a PM to you?

I don't see how that is relevant to Talim and Lizardman.

(Go for it?)

Thanks, though before I send the PM, I got a question: Can you give one's email address in P Ms?

I guess it's POSSIBLE but I wouldn't recommend it.

Also, stop derailing the thread. Anyway, Soul Calibur.

Yeah, about the sword itself. I'm still conflicted as to whether or not it was a good move for Soul Calibur to shift from a good force (though this is questionable in hindsight) to a lawful evil Knight Templar.

While I agree with some of the others here that there's already been foreshadowing of this happening in the previous games (Soul Calibur being part of a trio of artifacts - where the other two's explicit purposes are to absorb (Kali-Yuga) and purify (Dvapara-Yuga) evil energy, how long it's been kept apart from said two artifacts, its origin as a fragment of Soul Edge, and its growing templar tendencies in Cassandra's 4 ending), I have to say that I don't like it. 'Force of good turning out to be just as bad as the force of evil - with humans stuck in the middle fighting both' is becoming a very retreaded - and rather depressing - plot point these days, I think.

Nobody wants the good guys to win anymore.

Seriously.

Okay on SC 5's CAS, tell me I'm not the only one who likes to put hips to 20 when making a female CAS? Well except on little girls cause that's weird.

My problem with it was how it was handled. After Soul Calibur (well, OK, SCII if you squint and read the weapon bios), the whole it being a set with the Kali-Yuga and the mirror-whose-name-escapes-me-Yuga isn't really mentioned, so it turning evil due to being separated from them is something that seems like an explanation in retrospect. In SCIV itself, it's treated as basically as it was in SCIII and II, until you get to Siegfried's ending (where, admittingly, it's ambigious if the world freezing was the sword's doing or Siegfried's doing. Well, it was for me), Taki's ending, and probably most damningly, Cassandra's ending where she just declares it evil, blames it for what happened to Sophitia, and shatters it for no real reason.

It's way too sudden and feels more like a cheap swerve.

At least in V, it being evil is actually a legit plot twist (even if a cliche one and one that could have been doing better, but this is V's story we are talking here. ALOT could have been done better),

I think it works alright. As Soul Edge's (sub?)equal and opposite, didn't Talim also neutralize it in her endings before IV?

Otherarrow Since: Jul, 2010
#2022: Jun 5th 2014 at 8:48:13 PM

Nope! Her ending in II and III is more or less the same in terms of stuff done, and she only neutralizes Soul Edge.

I distinctly remember, as III has her dissolving Soul Edge in a spirit tornado.

Not to mention that in II (and III to a lesser extent), only those with Incorruptible Pure Pureness could wield Soul Calibur. Which is part of why it felt kinda cheap to suddenly make the sword into a Knight Templar. On one hand, the hints are there in hindsight. On the other, almost everyone only caught in in hindsight since so many people missed it before IV.

@ Otherarrow

the mirror-whose-name-escapes-me-Yuga isn't really mentioned

It's Dvapara-Yuga. Again, can we talk about private stuff in P Ms, like email addresses, phone numbers, etc.?

Yes, you can. But only if the other person wants to, and Otherarrow has expressed his disinterest already.
