Remind me, was air control a thing in SCV? Because I'm pretty sure I saw Sophitia air control away at around 5:43 in the gameplay demo.

Air control was always a thing all the way back to SC 1.

Yeah, just checked. I remember it being more important in some games than others which is why I wanted to double check. Wasn't sure if it was one of the many things SCV removed or something.

Yeah getting hit with horizantal attacks mid air lets you swing out of them to prevent loops like Seigfried's EX attack.

IIRC, it wasn't so much things getting remove so much as things getting re tweak/changed is what made people angry about SC V

Something interesting has been pointed out to me on Twitter. If you go to the main site for VI, you can find under the listing for platforms underneith the other platforms, it lists "Console."

Could a Switch version be announced during a Direct in January? Maybe Nintendo asked Bandai Namco to hold off so they can have an exclusive trailer?

Astral Chaos wasn't introduced in 3. It was first referred to as Astral Chaos in SC 1, but it was clearly based on the concept of the final stage in Soul Edge.

Edit: Actually, it might not have even been called Astral Chaos in SC 1. But it's still been in the series from the beginning.

Unfortunately, that "console" thing is a standard listing for any game on the site that is on any console. They'll also have "mobile" next to "iOS" and "android"

I'm just gonna go with the flow. The only guest character I care about is a returning one, although I would be pretty ecstatic if they chose Lucina. If anything that would be a sure way to piss off the purist/elitist.

Harada confirms basically what we already knew about Soul Calibur's directors over the years.

I wish I kinda new more...SCV had 2 patch updates and everything else was cosmetic....I always wondered why SCV was dropped like a sack of bricks so soon after development. It seemed like SC in its entirely was going to implode into nothingness before Okubo saved it.

Well it did have a lot of issues.

I think between being rushed to put it out, and the massive negative response, the big wigs in charge just opted to wash their hands of the series.

Of course, said big wigs were the ones who forced the game out when it wasn't complete, but still.

Well if it was just SCV that was the black stain on the series I'd be forced to agree. However everything after 5 was WAY WORSE

now THAT was the lowest point of the series. Removal of Ring out, no multiplayer, monetization up the wazoo.... It was a trainwreck and a half. Not even the skimpiest armor Ivy ever donned◊ could salvage it.

And then....after a year of silence.... They released...a pachinko machine...

So to me, the divide was the people who wanted to gorge on money and go the Konami route and other who wanted to push the series forward. There was a civil war with no survivors and many starving fans.

And then there was the social media "presence". When people made it known they didn't want to vote for either Pyrrha or Pat in the character tournament, it was scrapped. And when people said missed several characters outside of Mitsurugi and Taki, the social media presence just disappeared completely.

Maybe they decided to go back to the lab and address everything.

Well luckily it appears the greedy fucks didn't win.
