I found this darkly comedic animated version of one of Poe's stories, which could give us a bit of inspiration.
Can I just say I really like this idea.
The art style too seems somewhere between Psychonauts and Johnny The Homicidal Maniac which is...good for the subject matter to say the least.
CAUSE EVERY GIRL IS CRAZY 'BOUT A SHARP DRESSED MANOkay, quick update: Sadist and I discussed possibly doing another story idea meeting. However, it's impossible to do so at the moment, since she's on a trip of some kind. So, we will discuss some sort of game plan after she returns.
I just got compared to Jhonen Vasquez and Tim Schafer? O.o
So, I thought about this: How about certain stories or poems being set to animation instead of one webcomic arc?
Okay, I sent the collaborators e-mails regarding the project.
I'm thinking that it will start around nine. It's getting late already...
Okay, the meeting went on without problems last night. Here's some of the ideas we came up with:
- Dupin is a grizzled old man, disgraced from the ranks of the Parisian police through some sort of incident.
- The the story will become a little less darkly comedic when his wife dies.
- It's basically a Forgone Conclusion that the strip will end with Poe's death, but we have a specific twist on exactly how he died...
- There will be a few story arcs that don't focus on Edgar, or something that doesn't involve solving mysteries.
- Poe is a bit of a Deadpan Snarker, inspired by his various essays, and definitely not a partial result of watching too much Blackadder.
- The jury is still split on how we'll deal with his alcoholism...
I believe writing and art should start next month, when we should be free...
