hmmm not any from me, but cool idea. bump.
as of the 2nd of Nov. has 6 weeks for a broken collar bone to heal and types 1 handed and slowlyDo you have some concept art, I mean what visual style you want to use and stuff like that?
If any question why we died/ Tell them, because our fathers lied -Rudyard KiplingInteresting if he runs into The Man Who Was Used Up, or the would-be author from How To Write A Blackwood Article/A Predicament.
In the event of a firestorm, the salad bar will remain open. Now, I'm currently designing Dupin for the first story. Now, I don't really have a decent idea of what Dupin looks like, unlike our title hero. So, how do you think I should create him?
Have you seen Moore's League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen? You might want to check Moore's version. At least, in the visual sense.

Hmm, this might make a good model for him.
His encounter with The Raven should totally be a whacky drug trip or a serious encounter with the supernatural. The Art style seems pretty solid. Seems to fit in quite well with the tone of his stories. You might wanna check out some of the animation that was adapted from his works like the Tell Tale Heart as narrated by James Mason
If I do it that way, we should probably have it with Edgar experimenting with opium.

So, rebooting this thread.
So, since the first story is obviously set in France, how about having small clues in the background written in French?
Depends on how good it's your French.
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum.Do we have anyone in the writing team who knows a bit of French?
Not me...I think our Canadian lady friend might, though.
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum.Oh, right.
I'll send her a PM to see what she thinks. She is the lead writer after all...
I think this sounds like a very cool idea. I'm a huge Poe fan (though I tend to prefer his horror stories to his Dupin ones).
If you want, I can provide some help with French (though it's not my first language, unfortunately).
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdActually, one of our writers knows quite a bit of french, so yeah.
Good to hear! And good luck with it.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdSo, we haven't really discussed this, but: how are we gonna publish the comic when we begin work on it?
Well, are we gonna ignore this quesion or what?
I don't think any of us know the answer any more than you.
He who fights bronies should see to itthat he himself does not become a brony. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, Pinkie Pie gazes AlsoMeh, don't worry about publication if you don't have a pitch. And even then, you surely realize that this is really a complicated endeavor.
Anyway, it is a comic...and a supernatural one, at that. I see Image or Vertigo publiishing it. But I tell you right away that I don't see how it would be published in the first place.
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum.I do realize this is a complicated project, made a bit more complicated with the fact that everyone involved lives in different countries hundreds or even thousands of miles away from each other.
And, I was thinking we were gonna do this as a webcomic, since that seems like a viable option...
Well, you should have said so at first, damn it! :P
Anyway, hhmmmmmmm...let's get our first strip done and then we worry about the domain and stuff. Or we could host it in an image hosting site and link it here and get it known...
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum. We should also take into consideration that, unless we fund the project via a site like Kickstarter, we pretty much have a shoestring budget. Then again, this is meant to be a webcomic, so unless I decide to switch to drawing on a computer with software like Photoshop, that shouldn't be much of a problem...
So, I am currently working on a series of graphic novels with a few other tropers, each story dealing with a certain famous literary author. So far, we have come up with a few different ideas:
- It will consist of him solving mysteries loosely inspired by his own stories
- The first story will be an adaptation of The Murders in The Rue Morgue
- He will meet characters from his own stories
- It's gonna be a Black Comedy
So, I set up this thread to exchange ideas and get feedback for them. If you have suggestions, please do share them. :)edited 10th May '11 7:19:22 AM by MrW
