I have no idea what's going on there, especially for this trope, but at the same time that could maybe work for Cosmic Horror Story.

Just so someone wouldn't have to go dig through history if it does get pulled...

Now, it shows creepy all right, but it doesn't show surprise - this piece is left for the caption.
Adding a "before" shot of the mentioned die in a tophat could help.

We could have two pictures where the first picture has the main characters in a happy environment and is followed up by a picture that has the same characters fighting an Eldritch Abomination. Something like the Vile Villain, Saccharine Show.

Yeah, Earth Bound is a good example, but it could only be pictured if we had a before and after scene up. Maybe a screen shot of them fighting against one of the sillier enemies, followed by a screenshot of them fighting Giygas? Because right now all we have is the after part, and it took even me awhile to figure out what was going on. Doesn't help that this is fanart.

Haven't played Earthbound, but I just looked at some of the videos. I don't think it'll produce any good pictures - most of the creepy is in the music, and the warped picture that represents him doesn't make sense out of context.

This never got pulled. Do we have any ideas, or should we just close this down and move on?

Something from one of the kirby games might be a good fit, considering their tendency towards eldritch abominations as end bosses.

This looks like a cute animated film about adorable big-eyed puppet things which will most certainly only engage in lighthearted antics and WHAT THE HELL IS THIS THING!?

[up] The first pic already looks a little creepy, the second doesn't look that much worse.

I think we need an example more drastic, like The Legend Of Zelda... especially Ocarina Of Time, or Majoras Mask... perhaps juxtaposing a lighthearted moment with a High Octane Nightmare Fuel moment from the same game would do the trick? (Not sure where to start on deciding each...)

Maybe a montage of a pony [1] and [2]her [3] apples?

Potential 4th panel but I think it loses something. [4]

The talking apples don't look that creepy. They're a lot creepier when they're moving.

[up][up] I agree with having the first 3 pics. If we choose an image something more plot-driven like a zelda game, then we risk creating a spoiler.

[up] That too.

Actually, the first two episodes of MLP:FIM season 2 are a gold mine of potential images, what with them being darker-than-usual episodes of an otherwise cutesy, lighthearted series.

I'll rewatch them and look for potential images while watching. I might find something clearer yet than the Applejack image.

Pinkie's balloons would probably be good for this. Pic 1: Pinkie bouncing happily among the balloons. Pic 2: Pinkie cowering as the balloons (now with faces of her friends on them) laugh at her.

EDIT: Maybe something like this. Not sure how well the 2nd pic gets the "creepy" across when it's shrunk down like that.

This may be a little much, but here's some stills from the boat ride sequence in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Bump

Not sold on the Wonka picture, keep thinking it's a bit unclear what's going on in panel 3 so instead of creepy im just getting a "what the" vibe instead.

Yeah. I haven't seen that movie, and I have no idea what's happening in the third pic. The second pic is quite unclear too.

At that point in the movie, IIRC, everyone's boarded this boat to move into the heart of Wonka's factory. It starts out really dark, and then all of a sudden this really nightmarish imagery starts coming out of nowhere and everyone freaks out...it's incredibly jarring considering everything that came before that point. The third panel is an insect of some kind.

I'll admit, it's not the best representation by far, but it's about all I could do with what I had at the time.
