All Scythe is doing is White Knighting and defending the writer's for their mistreatment towards their characters, and once everyone refutes his statements, he pulls the it's only a cartoon/drawing crap along with an attack towards the fans for sympathizing said character.

This argument is one of the main reasons why I hate the Animation Age Ghetto trope.

Some folks on the Internet think they're a special GIFT to the world, and others aren't. In this perspective, they're kind of right.

Huh?

"It's only a cartoon" was the FIRST point I made that started all of this, where do you get that I'm pulling it out "once everyone refutes my statements?" It was one of the statements they were refuting, before it shifted to me being some sort of psycho. I never said anything about the writers until two posts ago.

I never thought that there was anything wrong with sympathizing with meg. I only think there's something SEVERELY wrong with getting so upset about a character's treatment that you look down on people who find it amusing or look down on the writers for doing it. That's like caring more about characters than real people. Oops, I think I forgot what site I was on for a moment there <:D

...but what on earth does ANY of this have to do with the age ghetto? I can't figure out how that relates in the slightest. :(

Devil's advocate here!

JUST WHY everyone pulls the Animation Age Ghetto card where it DOESNT FIT!?

I agree with Scythe. Stop throwing the White Knighting trope around, for the love of god.

I can enjoy the show, at least the old episodes. It's not a great show or anything, but I find it amusing. And while I don't find the Meg jokes funny, I don't see anything wrong with somebody who does.

I freaking love this thread.

The fact than I am listing to dramatic music while reading all of the posts makes it funnier. LOL.

My posts always read like I'm crotchety and upset but I really like everybody all of the time. I just wish people complained less and talked more about what they like.

In the real world I talk either so deadpan or so shyly nobody thinks to be annoyed by my statements :P

Seriously, how is anything thats happening to meg misogynistic? My problem with Family guy haters is that most of their complaints are nitpicking.

My big complaint about FG is that in recent years it's basically turned into The Sociopathy Show where people do horrible things to one another and get away scot-free. Add to that long and pointless jokes, an overreliance on cutaway gags, and that's why I generally stay away from the new episodes.

... Plus, I never forgave them for killing offf the Vaudeville Guys.

They killed off the vaudeville guys when it became apparent they were (at the time) the most hated running gag by viewers. I don't know why, there's plenty more obnoxious.

^^^

agree with that, FG has a lot of problems and yet some people seem to focus on the non-existent and/or stupid ones

It's not like the Vaudeville Guys did the same tired jokes over and over again or were involved in a 5-minute long gag that had nothing to do with the rest of the plot.

Play me off, Johnny!

There's a lot of other Running Gag's that were also tiresome over time other than the Vaudeville players, such as the giant chicken fights, the knee hurt, Cleveland's bathtub gag, cool whip, whaaaa?, and Conway Twitty.

Also, lol at everyone getting dramatic for nothing in this thread. I agree with the above tropers, the Animation Age Ghetto and White Knighting tropes are way too overused and anyone who uses them against someone doesn't have any common sense. XD

Well I for one loved the Vaudville guys, but if you've ever seen me blather on about how they need more Buzz Killington, then its obvious I just have a bias for old timey humortongue

I don't mind the chicken fights that much because it's always hilarious to see him nonchalantly pick up where he left off.

What does irritate me is all the jokes about actresses who aren't spectacularly gorgeous being mocked as if they were horrendously ugly.

I too think its annoying to watch characters to act like a bunch of sociopaths. Bo is actually using the Animation Age Ghetto here, its that people are taking a goofy comedy cartoon too serious.

That would be HIM using the AAG!
