Brian was rather sane in this episode. Sane characters are refreshing.
As for the jokes, I seriously thought they got a bit better. Well, at least in the first fraction something of the episode. I'm pretty sure they will never reverse the Seasonal Rot, but I'm hopeful that the jokes will be more consistently funny.

H.B. WardSo Joe was briefly rendered quadriplegic, and Brian has to disguise himself as an actual dog so he could keep boning a married chick.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefThey really like going all in with the "Brian is a douchebag" jokes now. He didn't even hesitate to take up her offer.
.... I hate TV sports.
Well that was an unexpected way to retain the status quo with Joe's side story. I would never guess it was Hartman's phone. What WAS expected was that they'd even do it to begin with, because we gotta rerun these episodes out of order!
(*4 minutes in*)
Wow, that was something. Really good to see that they're still making references to Brian being a dog, and that was no failure on the writer's part for trying to be a bit more clever.
H.B. WardI sort of feel like a bad person for enjoying that domestic abuse between Peter and Lois so much. I'm sure that's from some old sitcom (obviously not to the extent here) but I can't remember what, anyone know?
As for the episode itself, not much to say, I sort of feel like Cleveland, actually being a part of their neighborhood watch should have immediately understood what was going on but then we wouldn't have an episode. It ended well enough though.
This recent episode was about..... a touchy hot-button issue. Still a pretty good episode, and it was great seeing Cleveland Jr. in a major role again.
you know, they changed Cleveland's personality so that he was basically a black version of Peter on the Cleveland Show, and now that he's back they changed it again so that he's just stereotypical generic black guy. I sort of wish they went back to the way he was. I mean, why give him a show or bring him back if you don't like his character the way you made it?
I don't see much difference. I think it's because he has so little screentime now. He does have strong moments though. Remember when he visited Quahog for one episode when the guys searched for the origin of the world's first funny joke? At the end, he punched Peter for putting him in so much trouble, and then demanded he be taken home "so he could pork his wife".

He didn't punch him; he punctured his gut with a pencil/pen. I sort of see your point but about him not having much screen time but I still think the changes are noticeable.
Oh right. My brain must've substituted it for a less squickier memory.
Ah, a new episode. Focusing on the douchebag we know as Quagmire.
Well, apparently he was a star on a Korean soap opera, and he and the guys have gone to Korea to find out about the aftermath of a cliffhanger episode.
And a one-off line by Cleveland says that Donna's mother died.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefThe Status Quo Is God really annoys me in this show. Because of how Family Guy has been running for the last two or however years, it's always blatantly obvious to me throughout the whole episode that all major changes will be reversed before it ends!
H.B. Ward... -_- Okay, WHICH team was playing which OTHER team?!?!!?!?
Eee. A little cringeworthy, the way Lois and the Fat Man are acting. At least Brian's being the voice of reason.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefSometimes I hate live sports broadcasts.
Interesting to give some slight focus on one of Meg's friends.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefIronic how the episode taking place in Nigeria is the one where Carter displays no overt racism. He's still a jerk, but he's properly called out on it too.
¿?¡!Goddamn, Brian was creepy here. That seems to be a thing now, instead of him just being a douche, they like to make him a sexual creeper.
And, hey, props for Peter at least trying to be the voice of reason once.

...Is anybody else worried that most of these new episodes have enough in them to make a man laugh only once?
H.B. WardIf you ever want to prove to somebody that Family Guy WAS once a really funny and relatable show, show them this.
H.B. WardWas that from the episode where Peter goes to AA?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I do not know. In this case, it's the cutaway gag instead of the episode's plot that stands out in my mind.
H.B. WardI'd honestly like to know; if there weren't any rules on TV Tropes, how many people would go Complete Monster to half the characters, and The Scrappy to everyone but Stewie, Meg and Adam West. Something I've wanted to know.
On another note...is Season 14 Growning The Beard? Not a single episode in the season has been listing as a DMOS, the dude not funny moments barely come up, and it actually feels like they're trying! Hell, I think Glenn Quagmire is half-way being Rescued from the Scrappy Heap! All we'll need is two to three seasons of that, and he just might be a good character yet.
I didn't over look it; it's just one of those things he was in no position at all to throw stones at him for, and there were others in that speech of his.
And that's what it comes down to, Quagmire seems to actually believe he's better than Brian when he really isn't. As I've seen someone else put "I'd take douchebag in denial over and unapologetic rapist" and that's what Quagmire is.
Brian is a guy who's too full of himself but often tries to do the right thing and be self-reflective; Quagmire is a straight up monster.
