Rhymes with "Protracted."I keep reading the title as "Magic Libertarians."
Anyway, yeah, classic JAFAAC.
Infinite Tree: an experimental story^^ Ooh~ I like that. Shows the librarian part and magical part pretty well (magical creatures count as well, right?).
Agree that current is JAFAAC. Liking the flying head dude. The description could use some fleshing out.
Motion to pull. I should probably mention this habit in the stickied thread.
Fight smart, not fair.No objection to pulling here.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyNo objections here either. You can't even see the 'library' in this pic, which should be the bare minimum for this trope.
Same. The current doesn't even show that they're in a library.
Anyone want to take a crack at the description?
Pulled after short consensus reached.
Previous:
Fight smart, not fair.Agreed on the pull. Lucien from The Sandman comes to mind immediately as an example.
Of those, I like the first best.
Shamelessly BUMPING.

Agreed that the first Patchy pic is nfty, though I'm still preferring the pic in post 2. Demon skull tranferring books around just seems more blatantly librariany.
Another vote for Phyrexian Librarian from post #2, if only because some librarians can be grumpy. ^_^
(... though we don't usually flay the skin off of patrons for overdue books. Just sayin')

Another vote for the Phyrexian Librarian.
Maybe one of Twilight Sparkle?
I like the Phyrexian, too.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Sorry, but... that's a librarian, and not a bird-monster who's checking out a lot of books?
I have a message from another time...Bump.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Hmm... might be fixed with a suitable caption:
->"Bayview's new librarian Xol'uzel, the Wings of Dissolution, will eat your Soul! … right after it finishes reshelving the young-adult books."

Forgive me, I'm new here and am not certain of the established protocol for this manner of post, but I cannot help but feel that we might do worse than this picture of the Librarian himself.

I beg your pardon once again if this is the improper method by which to submit a candidate.

While the majority of the proposed images have their own merits, I cannot help but feel that they lack the element that serves to identify the pictured as the Librarian, and not merely a patron of the library.
@ Bibliophael: you submitted it correctly. If you're curious about our standards for picking images, see How To Pick A Good Image (rule of thumb: showing the trope is the important part, good example and famousness are irrelevant). Welcome to Image Pickin'
@ Oneris: that's a really good point. We need to get one with the little book trolly.
Fight smart, not fair. Here's another salvo.
Here's a few pics of the ghost librarian from Ghostbusters. Concept art (3rd down) and Game screenshot.
Unrelated, but here's a ghostly librarian from the children's book Library Ghost.
I know s/he though, the image shows neither "magical" nor "Librarian".
