After News Years, I guess? Gotta account for those who are getting it as an Xmas gift.

So it turns out Al Mualim WASN'T evil the whole time, apparently the Apple corrupted him. Huh. Does that make any sense? He was in collusion with the Templars way back in Memory Block 2 at the very least, he already had the list of de Sable's lieutenants.

Countering is your friend.

Also, don't worry, the series vastly improves after the first game.

You don't get Counter-Kill as an ability until Memory Block 3 IIRC. When you get told to take out two guys in two separate cities.

Brotherhood is where the series went from "pretty good" to "holy shit this is AMAZING".

The fighting? Or the entire package?

Because I'd argue that everything but the fighting was basically perfected in 2, bearing in mind that I've only played about an hour of Revelations. (During which I spent a great deal of time wondering why the Templars didn't just stab their boss. They're clearly not fanatical enough to die for the cause if their boss is killing them for it.)

I still think the story in 2 was by far the strongest. It's surprising, covers a lot of ground in both time zones, introduced a whole pack of new and memorable characters, had the largest number of different zones and city designs, with nice variety. It also gave the character and player really strong motivation to pursue the game's plot. Brotherhood had an effective motivator too, but not as good as 2 did it. But in 1 and Revelations, there's very little reason for the player to want to do anything.

It might be a cliché, but home towns, best friends and family members are usually doomed for a reason.

The entire package.

Brotherhood is my favourite game in the series.

I guess my experience is mitigated by my inability to participate in online play.

Brotherhood did have my favourite villains, though.

I liked Brotherhood's gameplay and exploration but I though Ezio's story was weak.

played about an hour + yesterday.

and...meh. It hasn't really pulled me in yet. Still doing tutorials (oh yay, city building again) so it might pick up shortly but so far it's just an AC 2 expansion pack.

[up]No, it's not. Expansion packs at most add weapons and missions. Revelations introduces many new gameplay mechanics such as hook moves, tower defense, an evolution of the Assasin guild, and other things.

Not an expansion.

It's the difference between refining/changing for me. Ass Creed Rev refined a lot of the problems from AC 2/bro but wasn't really different.

In contrast, AC 2 was very different. Health was handled differently, crowds were no longer made up of individual people, etc.

[up] Also, AC 2 had a well-written narrative rather than 'Altair goes to a city, does some random side missions then finally gets to assassinate a dude, rinse and repeat until whoa, Al-Mualim's actually a Templar'.

Need to revive a dead thread for a question.

I've taken all of the Cities in Mediterranean Defense. However, I am have a hell of a time holding all of them, because of the fact the attacks seems to get more intense each period. This last time, I lost 70+% in a single bound during the period in a couple of cities.

Does this happen to everyone?
