Didn't see a topic for this, so I thought I'd make one.

It's been brought up (Ron Paul 2012) but no, not aware of a direct discussion about it.

If he keeps up his Birther stance and being a general idiot when answering reporter's questions, I rate his chances at securing the Primary at zero. Even if he changes his tune, I doubt he'll garner more than a fraction of the Primary votes needed to face off with Obama in the General.

But, that's quite a ways off. Time will tell. If nothing else, the Republican Primary will certainly be interesting.

I suspect he'll form an interesting sideshow, but has no chance of getting anywhere.

And it'll fulfil his actual desires of publicity, since he's an attention whore.

He's this election's Ralph Nader, to be honest.

I saw a statistic the other day, that compared Trump's Net Worth with what the money would have been worth if invested in mutual funds or other investment opportunities.

he did not come out well.

Yes, Trump is not actually that successful a businessman, though he's a survivor. He's great about making everything about himself, though.

Frankly I'd just be really disappointed in America if he won.

If I were a republican I'd be sweating bullets right now.

He's the biggest threat to ANY chance of a republican victory.

Eh, Trump only becomes interesting once he loses the Republican primaries and goes third-party. That would make him a spoiler for the actual GOP candidate.

I'm curious as to whether he realizes that he's the clown candidate or not. Does he take himself seriously, underneath, or is he conscious of the fact that his candidacy is a joke?

With such people, I do tend to wonder if the nuttiness is a role the person's playing or not.

The sad thing is that I'd still rather have him as President than Michele Bachmann.

I've never head anything about Bachmann that didn't leave me thinking she was rather curdled in the brain department.

Barney would run on a 'Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody Everywhere' environmental platform, obviously.

Even worse, Bachmann is from my state. I'd rather have Trump. Or anyone. Even Palin.

[up] Is the 6th District really that conservative or does she just run unopposed or something?

It's not as conservative as lots of other places, but it's conservative enough that they'd elect her over a Democrat.
