Character Development Thread--Discussion

Dropped a stall and some characters in. I had a bit of trouble because they came from a rather medieval setting and the world's fair is a rather modern one, but then I said those limitations can screw themselves.

Anyway, It's a shame I can't contribute to the creation of the thread. But I've gotten hold of my uni life so I'll be able to post at least once a day.

Oh shit, I'm sorry Flowing Cotton I messed up. I was lazy and I meant to imply that I had returned their souls to them, but I missed that part. You may want to edit out the portion of their life being drained but keep the rest as it is, I did sort of write their reactions a little unnaturally. I'll edit my post in a second.

Well, like I said, their reaction is unnatural, like they're just smiling and not discussing anything so it's ok for you to just approach them on that. Just change the dialogue, i guess?

That'd lead to a completely unnecessary dialogue, though. Besides I like this scenario better, assuming Leo wouldn't immediately get done in by Adelphos.

Oh, well, now you've made a mistake . Only Adelphos has the squirrel and he's inside the building (and even at that, it's only the Adelphos clones in the other areas that have one). The guy outside is basically just a zombie and has nothing of interest about him. Might want to change that again.

Also, I mentioned at the beginning of my previous post that any newcomers won't be able to enter because he doesn't have enough torches. So, yeah, be prepared for that outcome.

EDIT: I don't think Leo'd end up interacting with the haunted house, it'd be rather odd for him to whip up his flashlight and went in anyway.

EDIT: ok I didn't see your second edit till just now. I'm going to sleep now though, so I'll only respond tomorrow (in about 9 hours).

@Elfhunter: Certainly she can, but it's just not worth mentioning. (Unless he does something really unusual with it, etc.)

@nrjxll: I'm really not a big fan of Cantina, since it's basically your standard 'fantasy tavern' in RP Gs. Halloween is pretty meaningless since a few characters are in costume by default, and the identities of whom they dressed up as will be lost on characters coming from different worlds.

The idea that appeals to me the most is the amusement park. I noticed that causal threads we had so far sports a 'calm' or a 'residence' theme, so why not do a high-energy setting for a change? Without the technological limitations of real-world amusement parks we can make the wildest things: Roller-coasters utilizing portals, water balloon fights for flight-enabled characters, zero-G rides, a doll-catching machine that doesn't screw you over 90% of the time...

Argh. I've had a couple of things suddenly spring up on me in the last few days, so I fear I probably won't be able to drop my characters in until sometime on Sunday EST.

Hm... I'm a bit stuck, and not sure where to send Tamara or Selina. Suggestions, anyone?

Either of them have an interest in alien knick-knacks, cybernetics, youkai, or other stuff in the Market Plaza?

Hmmm I'll think I'll join the next thread instead of World's Fair for now.

Two things of note, that might help explain this:

1. Ila can only sense that he's connected to copies, she can't actually see what they're doing unless they're quite close by.

2. She's a trader, not a cop. So, even if she did find out about the house, she wouldn't personally try to do anything - probably just notify the authorities or someone who could. (She's not very capable at all in a fight.)

Oh, no, I meant since he's zombifying people at the house of horrors, who, like the squirrels, are connected to Adelphos, you would feel their numbers increasing. But yeah, there's no need to mention it in a post.

I should note that the Halloween thread wouldn't just be a party, but a more generally Halloween-themed thread. I should have a more detailed writeup later tonight or tomorrow so people will have a better idea what I'm talking about.

I should also note that my last post wasn't really saying anything about Cantina III itself, but rather proposing an idea inspired by it through my memory of Cantina II. That's more of a long-term thing, though - I just wanted to get it out there now that I'd had it.

And I completely agree about having a high-energy casual thread; I've been pushing it for weeks. The only reason I'm focusing on the Halloween thread idea over the amusement park is because if if we're ever going to do something like that, this is the right time of year for it.

Still haven't decided on the character(s) I'll use for Worlds' Fair, which is why I haven't joined yet, BTW.

@Elfhunter: Sure, she can see the number increasing, but the others that she's known with that ability can generally increase and decrease the number of copies/beings under their control at will anyways, so it's not really something of note at the moment.

How about we just write our characters' interactions and see what happens? (I.e. don't worry about it)

Also...

I think a Halloween-themed amusement park sounds like a great idea for the next casual CDT!

Now that's an amusing idea. Every ride will get your adrenaline going in several different ways!

Just sharing, I'm having a bit of trouble writing dialogue for Lyra. Against Amanita, she came off as rather monotone and excessively expository (as opposed to her 'elegant' trait), mainly owing to her realizing that Amanita is out of her league. While behaving herself in presence of superior people isn't OOC, it made her characteristics pale to Aida, who's supposed to be more straightforward and snarky.

I'd rather not merge those two ideas, since it means if we use one we won't have the other on standby for later. (Writeup on the Halloween thread idea will come tomorrow, BTW).

I've settled on my characters for Fair, at least to start with. Now I just need to get some basic prep work done for them.

Edit: Also, what does everyone think about how fast the time should advance?
