In other news, Jol'Bihro. The idea behind the whole mentor thing was that I'd write a supplementary manga starring Reimu, with JB as a supporting character, so that it would make more sense when he goes on to be a playable option in later games, all while keeping the spotlight primarily on Reimu. I also figured that if I was going to make a manga about the daily goings-on in the Hakurei Shrine, I would need more permanent residents of said shrine than just the Red-White. Finally Reimu having an elderly non-humanoid mentor is a reference to Genji.

But ultimately, when I decided that I needed to designate a "most important OC", JB seemed like the natural candidate, mainly due to his spiritual calling as a shaman. *

But I then became concerned that introducing another main character at all, much less one who is so different from most of the cast in appearance, would put some groups of fans in arms. So the idea was to integrate him into the larger cast firmly under Reimu's shadow in an attempt to keep JB from being the next Aya.

I have a feeling that most of the vibes people get from JB stems from the fact that he is a major change to the Status Quo, probably about on par with Sanae & her goddesses in scope, but more unsettling because such a shift in the Status Quo coming from an OC tingles the Mary-Sue senses. An OC like Jol'Bihro is a daring and ambitious thing to make, and must be handled with care.

But I never said that I wasn't an ambitious man.

I was going to write up a reply to that since I had some thoughts, but after about 6 hours of sleep in 48 hours, I think I'll do it...later.

Just posting to say that, given yesterday was Wednsday and I pushed Hikari over the top with Interest, I think she can be published. /minimodding

All right then. I would suggest seeing how characterised her in my fan fics, but then I remembered that I've barely had a chance to do much with her. Poor Shujiko just isn't important enough to be a main character.

She totally ships Reimux Marisa though.

This makes Stardf29 the first person to publish an entry in the new thread who didn't have anything in the old. By the way, all those old characters still need republishing.

I'd also like to mention (and I'll go put this in the rules, too) that you can remove a character from the queue at any time, at the cost of losing any interests they had (if you pull out a toon and put them back in later, they go in at 0 interests, regardless of how many they had when you pulled them out).

Jackerel just brought up a little issue last page. If you try to put an entry in the queue when you already have 3, it will not go in the queue and will not collect interests. However, I will note it's presence, and when a vacancy opens up in your queue (through publishing or removing an entry), I will automatically place the excess entry in.

Guess I'll introduce another character to my line up, see if she gets any interest. Although, I may need to change her background, since it's probably a bit dark for Touhou. That, and her current status makes it unclear if I should count her as two characters...

Hanabi Kozui, The Flame-throwing Kappa [1]◊

An oddball among the Kappas, Hanabi has a strange fixation with pyrotechnics. So much so, that she built a flamethrower to use in danmaku duels. This, unfortunately, has caused to to be quite disliked among her people, as Hanabi has a bit of a trigger-finger. But she doesn't mind, as she's sure someone out there will have a use for her and her pyrotechical skills.

In her spare time, she likes to make fireworks for the various residents of Gensokyo. Nothing makes her happier than watching her inventions exploding in a parade of colors.

Because we already have at least 3 fire-oriented characters (Mokou, Kisume, Utsuho)...

Interesting idea, but not really appealign to me becasue there's MULTIPLE fire oriented characters already...

We have characters associated with fire, but do we have any actual pyromaniacs? I think that's an important distinction.

Right...I still need to do that. I've been a bit busy lately(Just about a week ago I wrote about 15,000 words of post over 3 posts and I'm still writing stuff for this PBEM 21 game too!)

Hm. On Ayumi, I do like her personality some and the idea of someone who is just like "Jegus mang screw these patterns" amuses me. She seems like someone who would get along with Marisa actually, I think.

She doesn't make me jump for joy, but she is a character I'd like to see eventully get up there. Just not before some others. 2 Interest.

Profiles sure are longer nowadays, eh?

Mokou has phoenix fire. Kisume has demon fire(?). Okuu has sun god fire. All of them innate fire-type abilities.

Hanabi is unique in that she uses engineered explosives.

Also, there's sort of a contrast with a kappa (a water creature, if I recall) playing with fire.

Maggey Carroll, "Black Winged, Black Hearted Bird"

A tengu, specifically a Black billed Magpie, and Stage 3 boss. She runs the Noire, a supposedly "underground" newspaper with various seedy information. She was offically banished from Tengu society for grievances against them such as complete information theft. Her theme is "Nobody Listens to an Injured Bird".

Bluh, unhappy with the name, but I couldn't think of something better. =X TERRIBLE.

Evangeline Roth, "Tonight's Entertainment"

A boss in Beloved Witches' Rondo, she's a witch who specializes in "fun" magic, especially those related to food. Other witches don't take her seriously because of this, but she's a credible threat. She considers herself a bit of a trickster and others think she's a bit of a bitch, but she just loves to entertain. Her theme song is "The Golden Butterfly's Fun Never Ends"

Unhappy with theme, which was made kinda last minute. I hope nobody minds that I included the game's name since I had it in mind. =X

And bluh civ game just stopped maybe I should do some actual work instead of C+Ping nearly completed OCs from my list and finishing their last touches.
