Wait:

Command And Conquer.

The series already uses FMV cutscenes along with notable Sci-Fi actors and whatnot.

A TV series adaptation of one of the newer Final Fantasy works (I recommend X and XIII) would be nice.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

Dead Rising. The episodes could focus on the different missions in-game. In some, Frank could rescue survivors, fight psychopaths, or research the cause of the outbreak.

Assassins Creed, Phoenix Wright, Mass Effect, Portal 2 and Peace Walker are all already structured as if they were written to be either this or a TV miniseries. So, yeah.

[up]I would consider that an argument NOT to adapt those sort of series. Videogame movies/tv series should expand on the source material, not just follow the letter of the old storyline. After all, why bother with watching a probably inferior adaptation, if you might as well just watch all the original cutscenes on youtube and be done with it?

I think that a series with a basic 'rescue the princess' plot or something like that would be more suitable. At least something that you can play around with.

Etrian Odyssey comes to mind, though I suppose the setting is a little too limited for drama. Golden Sun also looks like an option, but would probably cut too much into any available budget.

You really need something that has world building in it. That's why I mentioned Halo. You don't neccesarily have to follow Master Chief's story. You can create new characters and do a spinoff.

Kayeka, I understand your reasoning, but that doesn't mean that their respective E Us won't be able to accommodate The Same But More in the form of Live Action TV, like it was done with pretty much every single movie-to-tv-series adaptation. Funnily enough, the Mortal Kombat tv series, whatever your opinion on its inherent qualities, was a good way to adapt a game into a series. We'll have to wait and see how the new one fares.
