As part of the campaign to make the tropes distinct.: Nightmare Fuel

I noticed that there is now a different option down there in the crowner. I am not sure if it's mutually exclusive with the first one, but everyone supporting the new one should remember that it

1. Violates the Nightmare Fuel crowner #2
2. Will not likely win in the end

so please support both options rather than just one of them.

I totally support the leading option as the next best thing to deleting Scary Moments, but where do we get the authority to run this crowner, so soon after the last one decided what it did?

Yeah, we can't do it, sadly. It just makes those half-hysterical accusations that we just re-run the same issues in secret until we get the result we "want" true.

Fast Eddie said Accidental Nightmare Fuel gets a sectionectomy.

I can't find that announcement, but what about HONF?

I think HONF has an advantage in this situation. It's not a reaction like Accidental Nightmare Fuel that is easily confused. It's "it's scary". Author intent is clearly there.

I think he also seemed open to cutting HONF examples, judging from his frustration toward both pages.

The main problem so far was the confusion between the tropes. HONF is hard to confuse. If you want to make a case for examples being badly-written that's one thing, but it lacks the main problem ANF had.

Yeah, their Troper Tales nature is a separate issue.

But will an examplectomy solve the ambiguity? Won't people continue to add bad potholes?

Most locked pages with no examples tend to lose potholes after a while. Just nuke when you see a bad one.

Okay, now that Accidental Nightmare Fuel is pretty much taken care of now, what should we do with this trope?

Does the examplectomy extend to cutting pages in the Accidental Nightmare Fuel namespace? And the ones in the Nightmare Fuel namespace that haven't yet been moved?

What pages would those be? Subpages of media and works? Then yes, unless they have more than 10-ish inbounds in which case they become redirects.

So, what is the problem with HONF right now?

The HONF examples got cut as well.

Fast Eddie if you're reading this, can Accidental Nightmare Fuel go back to just being Nightmare Fuel since it's now a definition page?

So we're not collecting Scary Moments anymore?

The subpages and examples on the trope pages. Examples on the YMMV pages, I don't know what will happen to them.

But the sub-pages for specific works are staying put? (They all seem to be in tact so far...)

Seriously? And how exactly is this supposed to improve the wiki?

These pages were a chronic maintenance issue for several years, and there were many TRS and cleanup threads about it. It never worked because people willing to keep them didn't help with repair and last night (Swiss-time) Word Of Admin came down and cut the pages after too many burnt attempts at repairs.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but what does TRS mean? (Better question, does this mean that the Tear Jerker, Heartwarming, etc. pages will be next?)
