Contrary to the title, I want to ask the following; basically, what the title says. I've been through Yugioh cards and such, but I've never actually been capable of crafting a specific deck built around a theme, such as 'creepy but useful' deck or a 'creepiest, yet still practical' deck that can legitimately be used in a duel.

A little backstory: This is actually for a fanfiction I wanted to make, but I was literally always stumped on how to make a very useful, practical deck while keeping true to the creepy, dark vibe from Yami Bakura. Now, I realize I could utilize the strategies Bakura uses but I was actually centering on making Yami Bakura's strategy unknown and variable, thus allowing me to sort of craft the duel from there, mostly using a trump-card idea I had since awhile back.

However the central theme is still 'creepy but practical' yugioh deck, and I come up short.

As well, I don't mind whichever Season Yami Bakura you use as an example; I'm basically just really really stumped as to how to craft a very genuinely creepy deck of cards while their strategy is still viable.

I realize I should attempt this at a Yugioh forum for Deck Building but many of their forums require a post count, etc. until you can start requesting them, so I'm asking here, hoping to find someone who could help me out?

If not, that's fine, too.

If life gives you lemons, make grape juice, and sit back, while the world wonders how you made it.

This is like me asking TV Tropes about what wagons in the 6th century looked like.

If you want to learn something on Yu-Gi-Oh that you can't find on your own, ask people who know a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh. There's probably a Yu-Gi-Oh fan community out there somewhere where you can ask.

Sixth century where, Anne? That's going to make a lot of difference. But start here...

More to the point, why shouldn't he ask here? there are people who play yu-gi-oh, who can help him, and if they not only play but are familiar with the dhow as well, that's all the better.

Sixth century Scandinavia. Not many wagons survive from even the Viking Age (which didn't come around until later) so there really isn't a whole lot of information.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't ask here, it's just that asking here feels like a shot in the dark. He's more likely to get help if he specifically asks people who are into Yu-Gi-Oh rather than people who may or may not be familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh.

Find a copy of Antiquity, Vol 61:233, 1987. There's an article by André Wegener Sleeswyk on "A Scandinavian wagon construction." on pages 416-422. You'll probably need to get it from a university or museum library.

And that's why he might as well ask here....

Now, back to Yu-Gi-Oh, since we've finished derailing his thread. I'm sorry, Bhaal, I know nothing about the game, so I can't help you.sad

I quit the game a long time ago, about the time it started getting complicated with the Elementral Heros.

I played an Archfiend deck back when I still played a lot. They're creepy and make for some nifty strategies when you have the right support cards.

And they've got this whole chess motif going on, if you want to set the character up as a Chess Master.

No one believes me when I say angels can turn their panties into guns.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Thought I'd see if I could help with this. Yami Bakura has a lot of interesting decks throughout Yu-Gi-Oh whilst still keeping the occult theme from his first duel. In fact, I'm pretty sure he has the largest number of distinct different decks in the original series, which is pretty impressive considering that there were basically no archetypes back then. If the character is meant to be Bakura (or an expy thereof), here a few suggestions:

1) The Chess themed Archfiends, with or without Pandemonium (without it, you could have him actively try to use the maintenance costs of his monsters to his advantage, such as using 3 Life-Absorbing Machines to actually gain life every turn).

2) Possessed Dark Soul (takes control of all level 3 or lower monsters) with anything that reduces the levels of opponent's monsters (Stygian Dirge, Demotion, etc) and some graveyard synergy cards to reuse it (Puppet Magic of Dark Ruler would be very fitting thematically, allowing him to remove his stolen monsters from paly to revive a fiend of equal level). This would work well against many of Yugi's strategies, which tend to use a lot of low-level monsters.

3) Anti-Cure (Bad Reaction to Simochi, etc), probably in conjunction with Brain Jacker (fiend which heals opponent every turn to keep control of a monster). This can be played as a one-turn-kill (with big one-off cards like Gift Card and Paths of Destiny) or a slow stall/burn deck with cards like Rain of Mercy ("both players gain 1000 lifepoints") being used to buy time.

4) Skull Servants, in conjunction with some self-milling strategy (there are lots of cards that work with this, but Fiend Comedian might be worth a look). Somewhat similar to his Necro-mill deck in Millenium World, but more towards beatdown.

5) If you're willing to give him cards which canonically don't exist yet in the original series, Worms and Arcana Force have a very Lovecraftian style which could be tweaked to work with him.

There are literally dozens of other possibilities, but these should be enough for a start.

(edited as a quick read of the original post showed it to be nigh-incomprehensible)

If I may ask, when you saw the man with no face, did he look... LIKE THIS?!?

He asked for practical.

I'm quite tempted to say "Debris Zombies", but I'm biased like that tongue
