It would not be a Discussion thread replacement. Filtering issues and device limits aside, the more thoughtful pace here is quite evidently valuable.

For completeness, the other points from the discussion worth noting:

• If you have an objection to/personal problem with something somebody is planning, or a plot element, speak up as soon as you can. Having to Retcon something after the fact is very disruptive to the flow of the RP.
  • That said, when somebody does raise a problem with a plan of yours, see if you can accommodate them with a minor change to your plans first, before getting into arguments. There are a couple dozen folk in this RP, everyone will need to bend a little if we want to mesh.
• Apparently there is some heat over longposts? Is readability helped if the scenes get split among several posts in the future? Is it okay if they get double/triple/septuple posted in that case?
• Finally, in communication, misunderstandings are easy. Make a point of knowing what somebody else's actual opinion is, and try to take a charitable reading of any dubious posting. The only thing worse than escalating a potential fight by reacting to an insult with a bigger insult is creating a fight by reacting to a non-insult with an insult.

Exactly. The plans made in chat will be mirrored here.

This thread is the canonical repository for plans. The chat can help spin and develop ideas quickly, but ideally we finalize them here.

Re: Chatroom: Personally, I'd like to see a two-rooms model. I'd rather the moderation be a little more loose than your post seems to be implying, though, Silent. In my opinion, the chatroom is at its best when people are talking about anything, and someone gets an idea and says "Hey guys, check it out!" I would limit the "This is what we're talking about" stuff to those occasions. When someone gets an idea for the RP, we shut up and listen. (And yes, I know that I'm hardly ever in there. I hope my vote holds equal weight, though).

Re: Longposts: Multiple posts in a row...doesn't really do much in the way of readability. As ADHD as it sounds, the beauty of this medium is that you bounce around between the different writing styles so much. Sure, if you were the last person to post, and that was almost an hour ago, either posting again, or just editing more into the last post is fine, but if it's peak hours, and we're moving relatively quickly, there really shouldn't be anything wrong with saying "Okay, I've got this really long post. I'll just break it into seven parts (which I've done internally anyway) and post it over the next 10-20 minutes."

More importantly we should announce planning here. Not all of us can get into chatroom or spend much time, so having the actually important place saying "we are about to discuss what color to adorn the Secret Base of Doom with" (totally an important plot element, I swear!) is very convenient to all players.

Actually, it is hopefully only who the mods are what is "strict". But once that is solved there's nothing preventing a mod from declaring "Randomness day!" in the topic and we dedicating to that. That's more or less what I meant with "ontopic randomness". But I get your point. Thanks for the suggestion.

While I've said it before multiple times in the other chat, I'll say once again that I prefer the two chatrooms idea. Having three just overcomplicates things.

Ooh, Wolf does have a point there. I mean, I can get ideas for the RP or my fanfic from pretty much anything.

As for me, I guess I'm fine with either option? I guess I'll think about it some more, though.

I prefer having two chats.

I say three, if only because it will get annoying having designated "times" for offtopicness and plot discussion.

For the record I'm ambivalent towards either option except for the detail of the extra complication for Speeqers.

I vote two, mostly for simplicity and not having to bounce between up to three chatrooms and the thread, plus anything else you may be trying to do.

First thing: Um, I'm not sure how that would work. I think more people than just me should state their opinions.

Second thing: It's interesting, and does give a pretty good explanation for why certain Pokemon didn't end up taking over the world even though they were smarter than humans, though it does seem a bit too humanlike in terms of tech.

Sorry for not replying yet on the whole Nox Giratina thing. And sorry for finally replying to be critical of the idea, but... well, I prefer to have Legendaries stick to comedic interludes or subplots, since they by their nature are rather major to involve in the main plot.

That said, the third proposal is a lot easier to adjust, I think. Just have Umbra be doing the whole serving-Giratina thing that is, after all, his job. He would probably be a ghost type of some sort at this point, so he may even use the image of Giratina as a guise for his work, but he would not actually be a legendary or otherwise disproportionately powerful.

Sorry you didn't like idea 1. Glad you do like idea 2 - though I was looking more for how to implement it in-RP.

Yeah, that was my plan B. Have him be a less powerful 'mon (probably Dusknoir or Cofagrigus) that helped the others. I like that he still works for Giratina, though.

Hey, is the J-Team dinner still going on? Cause. . . wait, no. This was supposed to be a serious post.

Okay guys. You know how I haven't been around lately? That's because fanfiction & puzzles have taken over my life. Oh, and a 5-6 page reseasch paper, a big science test on Thursday, big project for science, and just pure laziness. And I've been trying to cut down on computer time, but that's not working.

So, until my life settles down, I'm gonna have Meddler split from the group for a while. I was thinking about having her travel around Hoenn and become a champion there(And maybe get an almost-all new team! If you guys would be willing to suggest some 'mon for me to use, that is. XD). What do you guys think?

Also, are we done with Hoenn? And can I have another recap from when meme turned on Gamer onwards? Pretty Please?
