Well, how exactly do I register?

I currently have very limited access to a computer right now and for at least the next few weeks, does anyone know if there'a any iPhone app or something that would allow me to make a chat-verifiable account or whatever so that I could still join the chat from my iPhone?

Guess I have the same problem now, already had a Pidgin account - guess you knew that XD. Though now everytime I want to connect it says I need to register, from what I get from the post in the other forum I probably need to be reaffiliated with the chat to be able to log in again

Unfortunately for iphone users, I don't think there are any XMPP client that will work with the chat. Monal only partially worked, not worth setting up IMO. It also may not even be supported anymore.

What to do with Silas. Past Shenanigans are going on so he's not involved in that.

If you can wait until tomorrow, I can do stuff then.

Though if you need tonight, anyone else want to?

Pidgin-wise, here's a guide for making a Dukgo account and doing some stuff with it. If you've got an account set up or are having other problems then you can PM me to get the chat info/see if I can work you through it.

Alright, so I guess you guys won't be seeing me on chat until I get access to a computer again or this gets resolved to the point where people can securely access chat from the web again.

I'll still be available to PM, RP, put out existence posts and whatnot like before. And I'll check the logs from time to time ...so yeah, just letting you know.

In somewhat related news, I've found a place that's similar to plug.dj where we have a new DJ room. Go here if you want.

I'm still figuring out how this site works compared to plug, but a lot of things seem pretty similar. One plus I've noticed: Videos now play all the way through instead of being cut off 15 seconds or so short.

Alright, I'm not entirely sure of how much the situation that got the DE at least temporarily locked to all but the core 5 players has simmered down or been worked out (and that and the spambot incident have led to me tentatively avoiding the chat) but I wanted to note regardless the way I'm handling certain parts of the DE.

Now that "Team DE" has fully formed in-RP, aside from wrapping up some of Robin's remaining interaction with Vyv at that bit I'm gonna be temporarily putting my in-RP advancement of the plot on hold in order to prewrite certain parts of it, namely:

• Spagging one of the [SPECIAL EVENTS] with Bitters.

• A bit with Robin that, while not dark, is pretty psychological and addresses an ambiguity about him in his home game.

• Another bit with Robin where a character that appeared many months back returns and explains why Grima was acting so odd in his debut.

• Qwerty, Robin's Sligoo, evolving.

There's also the final battle spag and another solo bit with Robin, but those are both near the end so I can hold off on them for now.

Now, I'm gonna need help with fine details of those last two so I'll take any help there; the Grima bit I'd need someone familiar with Robin's home game, but the Qwerty bit can probably be tackled by anyone (though being familiar with his namesake/inspiration in Freefall wouldn't hurt). If you want to help with either please dearly IM or TVT PM (preferably former if possible) ASAP.

On another note... Remember the two [SPECIAL EVENTS] in the DE outline and how they occurred after each Space Center visit, and the first was going to be a pesudo-spag between me, Bitters, and Verax? Well, sadly due to all the delays it's been cut from the plot itself; it's still a fun enough idea we want to do it as an extra on the second forum, but it's sadly not happening in-RP anymore.

Good news... The second [SPECIAL EVENT] - the one featuring Pippi's winning Shitty Zinnia Doodle Contest entry - is still gonna happen, and it's the one I said I was spagging with Bitters above and we've already done some initial chunks of. We very much hope you all enjoy it - and I codenamed it BOOKEND for a reason.

But aside from that while I do dearly want to get back to work on certain side things that have been held up by recent events, I'm still up for whatever in-RP and do really want to work on certain other spags with people. And there's one in particular for one of the Big Solo Subplots I've been doing with Dune that will let me kickstart the next big phase of it when finished. Of what's been spagged and prewritten so far I really like how this subplot turned out, so I may very well return to the chat when it gets rolling again despite my reservations in hopes you all do too.

Okay, I started thinking about this recently and wanted to give some thoughts on something that hasn’t come up recently, but I was thinking about it recently, so I thought I’d bring it up in general

Not sure if I’m phrasing this the best way, but I’d call this

Pokemon and Gender Expression

(And just a note, I’m phrasing this almost all in terms of the Gender Binary since that’s easiest to explain with/how things seem to be split more often based on impressions)

Anyway, I’ll try and illustrate what I mean with some examples…

First, let’s look at Lopunny. Lopunny is generally seen as a pretty feminine Pokemon appearance-wise. However, if you asked a given Lopunny if they themselves looked feminine, you wouldn’t necessarily get a yes. See, Lopunny aren’t strictly female and male Lopunny might not see themselves as feminine. They’d more likely determine what comes off as masculine or feminine to them in Lopunny terms.

Second, let’s look at Alakazam. Alakazam is a Pokemon with facial hair that would generally come off as masculine to humans. Since Alakazam are skewed male gender ratio-wise, there might be grounds for more Pokemon seeing Abra-line as male in general. Though, it might be a bit weird for Alakazam to consider having mustaches a masculine thing. Alakazam, unlike, Lopunny, though, do have an easily identifiable way to distinguish gender: the length of their mustaches. From that, many things could follow: Alakazam growing out their mustaches to seem more masculine or keeping them short to seem feminine, the Long-haired Pretty Boy equivalent being more of a Short-mustached Pretty Boy, Alakazam in turn viewing humans as generally feminine-looking due to even for those who grow facial hair, most don’t grow it that long… stuff like that seems to make more sense from an Alakazam’s perspective. Granted, that probably wouldn't be the *only* marker. Other markers might be there, they'd just be less obvious to humans.

Lastly, let’s look at Sylveon. Pink and ribbony, which generally indicates a feminine appearance. Does that mean Sylveon wouldn’t see other Sylveon as feminine in general, though? Well, that’s trickier. Since there’s a definite choice involved in Eevee evolution, if Eevee perceive pink and ribbons as feminine, then Sylveon will likely be seen as a feminine choice, with everything that would follow. That said, like Lopunny, between Sylveon there would be masculine Sylveon, feminine Sylveon, gender-neutral Sylveon, and all sorts. And if a masculine Sylveon wanted to do something to demonstrate masculinity, it wouldn’t be the human (or even Alakazam) way of a giant ribbon mustache, it’d be however Sylveon do that, maybe taking tips from RL!foxes if they have a way of doing it.

Anyway, I hope that was at least somewhat entertaining read. Hopefully it’ll at least be in people’s minds more in situations like this and maybe lead to some interesting ways of handling this kind of thing. ^_^

Yeah, I agree - Pokemon are people, sure, but players judging them on the standards of human masculinity/femininity via appearance - or worse, the mons themselves doing so - always feels... off. In regards to the Sylveon example Umbra's Sylveon Saxton is an intentional subversion of both - I wanted to dick with the steryotype Sylveon are girly/effeminate just via their looks (and I like to joke Sylveon is the manliest Eeveelution of them all due to the same stereotype) and in-character he considers himself the most hyper-masculine thing ever by his species' standards.

And you know what buddy? You may be right.

There's a concern both Crow and I had tied to the one above (though above wasn't triggered on his end by it) that we both decided should be addressed, but to to recent drama plus the spambot issue, I kinda feel like community's still on edge right now, and I'm wary of inadvertently causing a ruckus through bad phrasing or something as a result, plus there's someone Crow and I both possibly wanna consult on it first due to likely being able good advice on the subject.
