I just meant she just looks so...ordinary. Very beautiful but ordinary nonetheless. Superman looks more like a Greek deity than she does. Or maybe I'm just expecting too much *shrugs*

Batfleck says he won't do The Batman movie if it doesn't come together in a way he likes.

And apparently filming is supposed to start in a few months?

Well, if I was the guy in charge of the script, this article would give me plenty of reason to get off my ass and get to writing the hell out of The Batman.

I will say that I did enjoy the fact that Superman fights like a brawler. When he throws a punch, he's mostly haymakers. Makes sense for someone who's never really had the opportunity to learn how to fight. I would expect Wonder Woman to be proficient with the ancient Greek-style weapons, and probably in wrestling and boxing too. I expect she'd know champion-fighting as well.

Interestingly, pre-Crisis Superman did know how to fight. He was proficient in the Kryptonian martial art Klurkor, which he learned in Kandor (he apparently decided to learn it after he had to fight Faora, a Phantom Zone villain who was a skilled martial artist—and a serial killer to boot).

So I heard about the Instagram image of Henry Cavill spending Christmas with Dwayne Johnson, with references to Superman and Black Adam in the message.

I had a wild idea, the set visit says that Apokalips tried to invade Earth thousands of years ago but was repelled by an alliance of man, Amazon's and Atlanteans. It got me wondering, what if Black Adam was involved somehow and appears in the "history lesson" they have planned. That would be a knockout cameo. Even crazier, what if his start of darkness came with allying with Steppenwolf? Fun spitballing.

Or maybe Black Adam was the leader of the alliance and went crazy with power and turned on the Amazonians and Atlanteans?

Suddenly that makes me think that heroes of ancient mythology will be portrayed as the "original" Justice League. I definitely wouldn't put it past Snyder, they already are playing up the "modern mythology" aspect. Justice League: War already had Diana point out how each member of the League resembles a member of the Pantheon.

I found it odd how she compared Superman to Hercules given that Hercules has been traditionally a Wonder Woman enemy.

[up] I thought she said something along the lines of "I've never met anyone like you Superman" (this was when they were still pushing the Superman-Wonder Woman romance), or was that in a different film?

That's what she said in the animated movie, which I believe had a number of Ship Tease moments between them that was not in the original comic.

She said Batman was Hades, Green Lantern was Apollo, Flash was Hermes, Cyborg was Hephaestus and Captain Marvel was Zeus. Calling Superman Hercules/Heracles is something of a misnomer, as Hercules was a demigod and not a member of the Pantheon, which were generally the leadership of the Gods and referred to as "God of X."

Lex Luthor's scene apparently in Arkham Asylum

Sure the source is IMDB and like Wikipedia it can be edited by anyone. Though it is probably the actors that updated their roles on the Justice League page on IMDB.

I don't really get how Captain Marvel aligns with Zeus other than the thunderbolts, but okay. Lining them up one to one is probably a mistake anyway— Hera, Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite were all pretty important, but of course we can't go matching male superheroes to female gods, no no no.

That's all she was talking about, superficial power set. Captain Marvel throws lightning like Zeus (he even has a lightning bolt as his symbol). Cyborg's adaptive weaponry reminds her of Hephaestus, the god of fire and blacksmith of the Gods. Flash is as fast as Hermes (in some encounters he's shown to be several degrees faster). Green Lantern's similarity to Apollo is strictly in that Apollo is the God of Light and Sun. If anything, Batman's similarities to Hades are more strained. Hades was more of a put-upon bureaucrat (too busy dealing with the management of the underworld than meeting the other gods on Olympus) than some sort of demonic figure.

As for Lex, he's long been expected as some sort of Hannibal Lecter-like character where they interrogate him for further information on Steppenwolf. One theory was that Superman's resurrection was going to be based on the same thing Lex did to Zod's body, and the reason he doesn't turn into another Doomsday is because of the Codex.

Comparing the Justice League to the Olympians just seems like Wonder Woman translating them into an idiom that's more familiar to her, rather than any actual comment on the characters or their similarities to the Olympian gods. As said above, some of the similarities are pretty strained and superficial.

It is interesting how they have been rather vague on Cyborg's actual appearance. We've seen a rough CG close-up and a couple of distant images like the prior group shot and now this one, but nothing that was clear. I'm guessing it's still being finalized, as well as that it will change over the course of the movie. This shot does give us a rough impression we haven't had before, largely that he has a metal muscle look, his body IS the metal and not just a shell on top of organic components.

You have to be careful with CGI-intensive characters because in the age of the internet, it's real easy to build atrocious buzz if you show off an unfinished effect. People will pounce all over you and nitpick the shit out of it.

I know it's cliche to harp on Synder being an edgelord.

But these costumes.... no.

Well Batman and Aquaman look good. But with them, they're following the formula of "Keep it fucking simple, stupid."

Wonder Woman would look good to if she didn't look bored out of her mind.

Flash's is meh. The Not!Spider-Man webbing doesn't help.

And Cyborg's is a hot mess. Is that Megatron's face on his crotch? It's not even the fact that it's too much CGI. It's just... CGI done wrong.

Like the post above said, it's possible it's just an unfinished look at cyborg and he looks better in the finished movie.

I'm mostly fine with how everyone looks, except for, as has been said already, Cyborg and especially the Flash.

Barry's always had a simple-but-effective costume that the CW show can prove translates well into live-action with some tweaking. I really don't think that the armored look works for him. It's too busy and almost looks like there'd be loud, plate armor-like clanking whenever he moves.

Batman on Film: The Batman production pushed back, Justice League is "a mess"

Background: Batman on Film and its main editor in chief Jett in particular is a very well known source of leaks in the DC film world since the late 1990's, in particular they were the source of many leaks and spoilers for the Nolan Batman films.

Apparently, the brakes on the Batmobile have been tapped.

According to a longtime BOF source, THE BATMAN has been “pushed back.” How long? “A couple of months” I was told. If this is indeed the case, it means that THE BATMAN won’t start filming until mid-Summer at the earlier. Thus, a July 2018 release now will be in question as will a release in 2018 period. Or – and this would be the worst case scenario – perhaps Affleck knows that JUSTICE LEAGUE is going to suck (I'm hearing it's a mess — I hope it's not!) and is ready to bail on the DCEU before he gets GIGLY’ed (again) by it.

Look, I hope (i.e. desparately want) that Ben Affleck directs THE BATMAN, so here’s hoping the reason behind this alleged delay in production the first hypothetical I proposed above. But, something’s up with THE BATMAN, no doubt about it. Could this be why Affleck's comments about THE BATMAN suddenly changed here recently? I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit worried, but I'll remain optimistic (because I really want this to happen).

Dear God, I hope JL is "not a mess" but considering their track record.... :(

Nobody's been more critical of Dawn of Martha than me, but it sounds like he's reaching there. Affleck has already been talking about taking time and making sure Batman has a good script before he goes in guns blazing, so I'm not sure how that points to him actually knowing JL is gonna suck and quietly quitting the franchise.

Something that seems off is The Batman was never tracked for a July 2018 release, The Flash and Aquaman were the intended first half of 2018 movies and The Batman was suggested, never confirmed, as a November 2018 release. The Flash is on hiatus at the moment and Aquaman seems to have been delayed to October 2018 while filming is expected in the next month or two, which may mean they are expecting The Batman to be the first half of 2019 now, maybe a March-May release.

Ben Affleck on Jimmy Kimmel, basically trying to end the internet panic button. Basically, the year has been extremely busy for him between BVS and The Accountant along with writing/directing/starring in Live By Night (and producing a couple of other films). It took him a year and a half to get Live By Night going because nobody was asking about it but of course everyone was asking "where's the fucking Batman!"
