I just tweeted Lumia UK.
...
What?
Dude, where's my fucking update?
So Three's parent company look like they may buy O2.
Amazingly, I did know about this and I hope it DOES happen.

"Did you expect somebody else?"Oooooooooooooh, M&As! Seems like the UK mobile market may be very different about a year from now.
I feel like the Three name is cooler, but they'll probably end up keeping O² around because it's more recognizable.
oh, that's why I need this binary mind // ⌘O2 has a fairly bad reputation though, where Three are generally more liked. I'd imagine if anything they'll slowly merge them together, and use both sets of masts but not before they get any potential new O2 customers onto a Three plan instead.
"Did you expect somebody else?"Okay, I got a Samsung Galaxy III, which I have been using for nearly 3 years by now.
One day, I dropped the phone and the screen went blank. I know that it works; it can receive text messages, alarms work, and if I touch around it just right, I can even change between sound and vibrating mode. And yet the screen is still dark.
I took it to nearest T-Mobile place, and the clerk says I have to either get a new one or go to a cell phone repair store to fix it. The problem is that it's too far that I can't go there on foot, and there's not a very good public transportation, nor does any of my friends have a car. Also, I'm rather short on cash.
So, does anyone know any way I can fix this dead phone screen by myself?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Is it the S3? There's plenty of screen replacement videos on youtube for the S3. Just buy a new screen online and replace it yourself.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThis site's great for teardowns and notifications of what tools you need. It's saved me money in the past on expensive techy support.
The one for the Galaxy S3 is here:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung+Galaxy+S+III+Teardown/9391
And you might try opening it up before you order a new screen, since it might just be harmlessly disconnected.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI brought it to both T-Mobile and Radio Shack, and they both say that the digitizer is broken.
Hmm...might have to look around for a bit.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. They say the digitizer is broken? That's the touch sensor part, and I thought you'd established that was probably okay, you just can't see what you're tapping.
Fresh-eyed movie blogSo according to the availability page I should be able to get the Denim update for my phone. But my phone doesn't think so.
"Yup. That tasted purple."So the iOS 8.1.3 update is now available for my iPhone 5. Does anyone know whether it improves or worsens performance compared to the previous version?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot@ Treble. You could try the Lumia Recovery Tool. It will automatically load the latest firmware, but it will do a factory reset in the process. That's if you want it bad enough. If not; then just wait. It should roll out OTA in the next day or two.
OK, the page has updated and they're admitting that it isn't available yet after all.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Just got a Nokia Lumia 635 (after breaking my old phone). It was pretty inexpensive and at very least does all the things I mainly want a smartphone for (in order of importance: GPS, facebook, checking email, and maybe music streaming). Only thing is, I was able to keep my old number, but not my old contacts - apparently I will have to go to a t-mobile store to get those back.
Really? You could use the Transfer my Data app to sync contact cards and photos and whatnot from your old phone to the new one via the magic of Bluetooth.
I have my contacts synced with Google, so I never lose them.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThe magic of onedrive.com cloud syncing does the same for me. Except I have theoretically unlimited storage. Which is nice.
As far as contacts, I don't think there's a limit. But contacts don't take up much data.
Google keeps giving away more and more Drive space though.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI am going to buy a Moto G and nothing will stop me!
"The other major upgrade is LTE, which even the new Moto G doesn't have."
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell fuck you too Motorola.
dead devotionAre there better phones than the Moto E available from other brands at the money you are looking to spend on it? If so, buy those instead. Job jobbed, I reck'n.
There's the Asus ZenPhone2 which isn't even out yet.
dead devotionOK, so my phone is finally going Denim as we speak.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Samsung announced the Galaxy S6, and the appeal is lost. They removed its strengths against Apple, and by doing so copied the iPhone's weaknesses.
HTC One (M9) was also announced.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.
I didn't get Denim from my carrier, it came off of my wi-fi connection. Vodafone still has bupkis about the Denim update on an official basis.
