The "Sonic Kart" game was Sonic Drift. All the other ones are footraces.

Except Sonic Riders, which isn't.

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity had decent single player, but has unstalbe difficulty (sometimes too easy, sometimes you swear the AI cheats) and ridiclous slow downs in multiplayer. =/

It sort of had a "kart racer" feel, but didn't rely on wacky items much, so it was more skill focused.

Now if you could have actually controlled the tricks, insted of them being dependant on your jump timing at ramps and maybe the direction pressed, and if you could have "wiped out" it might have as well been SSX WITH HOVER-BOARDS, -BIKES AND -ROLLERSKATES!

But before I ramble anymore on how they could have done it better and go completely off-topic, I'll give you a quote:

I have it on authority that it's going to be a stealth game: Metal Gear Sonic 1: Generations. The focus is going to be on quickly infiltrating Dr. Eggman's base and shutting down his vile cyber-genetic experiments, after he encounters a horrible twisted pot-bellied clone of himself in the middle of Green Hill.

Also, Classic Sonic shall henceforth be renamed Solidus Sonic. Tails is the Otacon equivalent, Knuckles is your hardnosed commander, and Amy is, of course, Rosemary. Oh, and Bunny Rabbot shows up despite having nothing to do with the game plotlines because hey, we need a cyborg ninja.

Plot twist: In the end, you discover that not only are there several more clones (including one oddly proficient with a guitar), but the Sonic you've been using might not be the ONE TRUE SONIC after all!

"Sonic? Sonic! SOOOOOONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!"

I'd totally buy it.

I really don't need to point out it was a joke post, right?

Oh well, better do it anyhow. And I already did.

So, what classic characters do you guys wanna see come back for this? Fang is a must.

Also I think it'd be pretty interesting to see newer characters be re-imagined in the classic artstyle and vice-versa.

Frankly, I'd rather they just keep things simple and have just the Sonics and (hopefully) the Eggmen.

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.

here's an IGN GAMEPLAY preview.

I like that they acknowledge that Sonic Colors and 4 set Sonic on the right course.

It looks like a big dual sided conglomeration of fun. I don't care if the fans argue over this: I, at least, will enjoy it.

"In [Sonic the Hedgehog 4] Episode I, we didn't actually return to the old physics, and nor did we try to create something totally new," Iizuka says, "What we tried to do was respond to the voices we heard in the fans, and create something based on the feedback we were receiving from fans. On this occasion, with Sonic Generations, we've created a game with a totally different game and with completely different physics."

Different, but for classic 2D Sonic it's exactly the same – or, more accurately, it's exactly the same as you remember it. Sonic's movement seems much less stilted in Generations than it was in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and gaining and maintaining momentum is a much more satisfying affair.

From the IGN preview.

I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D

I don't think Fang was in any of the "defnitive/notable" games. I think he was only in the obscure and mostly forgotten Sonic The Fighters.

First of all, I wish that interview was in English.

Second of all, the gameplay looks amazing

Third of all, Modern Sonic's gameplay style reminds me a lot of what The Game Overthinker had proposed in his old video about Sonic's old sucking problem. Particularly the boost button.
