For some reason there seems to be a very bad definition of current trollfics on the rise lately. Apparently "not sure if they are serious or just trolling" fan fictions tend to be grouped in as hilarious and So Bad, It's Good.

I want to do the opposite. I want to write a fan fiction that pisses off the fandom and has no redeemable enjoyment value, as much as I possibly can.

Sure, anyone can enjoy the work anyway, but I am just looking for a list of things to put into my fanfiction that would piss people off.

  • What's the worst traits a Mary Sue can have?
  • How bad will you have to mangle the story before people will eventually realize they cannot enjoy it?

The only way you can do that is by making it absolutely tasteless. Including rape, morbid fetishes, a completely justified hero who would otherwise be a Complete Monster, etc. I would also strongly recommend not doing that sort of crap.

The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

Take the worst philosophy you possibly can find and do a Possession Sue of the protagonist supporting that philosophy.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

Poe's Law is practically invulnerable. I suppose the only way to prove you were making a Troll Fic, and not merely a terrible work, is to hide a message decreeing its true nature within the work. Something simple enough that it would be found on its own, but not too quickly. If you reveal it, people will likely assume you merely chose a pattern that provided the answer you wanted, as per countless would-be prophets using the Bible to make predictions, or that you hid the message merely as a form of insurance if your fic went poorly. Beyond that, human stupidity and depravity have no known limits, as the existence, and debated nature, of The Pokemon Story will attest.

Unless you want to write an absolutely disgusting squick fic (on the level of the ones mentioned on our own Horrible fan fics page) you probably won't be able to avoid Poe's Law 100%. After things like My Immortal poor grammar and nonsense plots don't cut it anymore.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
