I was about to ask about the absence of their version of "How Fortunate the Man with None".
I get actual chills when I listen to it...
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Yes, it is one of my favorite song of theirs. But the fact is, thinking about it, if I were to just list my top 10 favorites, it would be overwhelmed by Brendan songs. Like, there would be A Passage in Time, Indoctrination (A Design for Living), Xavier, East of Eden, Ulysses, Black Sun, In the Kingdom of the Blind the One-Eyed are Kings, Mr Lovegrove, The Carnival is Over, How Fortunate the Man with None, All in Good Time... That's it, I pretty much have my list right there.
So yeah I tried to be as varied as possible. That and the fact that the lyrics of How Fortunate the Man with None, however beautiful they may be, weren't actually written by the band, and for such a gifted duet of songwriters I thought it would be too stupid to have one song on a list of 10 that isn't actually written by them (the text I mean).
But yes it gives me chills too, as most of their songs do but this one even more so. The penultimate album closer in my opinion. I still maintain that the tracklists in their records, and Into the Labyrinth in particular, are always flawless.

Yeah, the biggest challenge is to choose only ten songs. It gets especially grating when you choose a band that has more studio albums than that.
