I think you want the Trope Repair Shop.
Panhandling sign glued to hands. Need $5 for solvent.Yep, Trope Repair Shop.
The page only exists so that Hello My Name Is Inigo Montoya Prepare to Die is all blue.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyIt was added for fun, and cutlisted several times by a particular Stop Having Fun Guy, and each time the cut was rejected. Anyway, seems you put this in the wrong forum anyway, since this is Image Pickin.
You don't need curly brackets. It was a fun page that doesn't get in the way.
Fight smart, not fair.Hollered a mod about the thread misplacement problem.
Also, the topic's title: "People Shit On Chairs". *snicker*
"Your kindness gives me the presentiment I can be reborn. Now, I want to believe at least in you." - Kaori YaeWhat was I drinking while making this... yeah, if any mod is kind enough to fix the... typo in title and move it correct place I would appreaciate it.
I agree that the word itself seems to be PSOC. But the page could be about how people greet each other in fiction, which can be important for characterization or The Law of Conservation of Detail.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It is really lame as trope.
But considering it's under Just for Fun and Lampshades that it's a flimsy excuse to make an All Blue Entry, I'd let it slide.
@Mr Death "Stop Having Fun" Guys only apply to a specific gamer archtype. The editor may or may not be party pooper, but by definition he is not even close to being a "Stop Having Fun" Guy.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianAltough I see reasoning behindd Just for Fun and Lamphading, I still think it's not enough. I mean, if we let this slide, then we would need to let everythign else that would use excuse Just for Fun + Lampshade Hanging. And That's Terrible.
Someone could create page called "Bye" and use excatly same excuse as here. When someone then tries to cut it, they could jsut point here and say "This page exist too."
Not trying to be "Stop Having Fun" Guys person, but considering that we have moved YMMV stuff out of main pages and even argued whenever Tropes Of Legends are allowed to changed, I want to point this one out before it becomes some flimsy excuse for another page...
Well, is "Bye" part of a long phrase from media that is the source of several trope names and is the only word standing in the way of the entire phrase being made up of trope names? If not, then no, this wouldn't be a precedent for allowing "Bye" as a trope.
Besides, "goodbye" is already a trope (sort of; it's a redirect to That's All, Folks!).
Like I said earlier, that is not what a "Stop Having Fun" Guy is. I don't mean to call you out but I'm sick of that trope getting misused all the time.
Lampshade Hanging is the only easy way to keep it a All Blue Entry. Otherwise, I'm stumped.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianI was thinking of making a thread like this myself, because:
- It is allegedly a trope, and as presently defined, it has nothing to do with its reason for existence (ie, the line in The Princess Bride isn't an example, unlike the other tropes in that sentence). From the wiki meme, could you guess that it's primarily about people saying the word when entering an unknown area, usually in horror? *
- It is used FAR more often in that line than otherwise, which because of the above point, means it has nigh-100% misuse.
If we are going to have it as a Just for Fun page, then let's make it a Just for Fun page.
(Incidentially, from a wiki-markup perspective the line would be more homogenous if Hello wasn't wiki-linked, because of the Single Word Trope Name Exception.)

I thought it was already a Just for Fun page. That's what It should be, for me.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Even for a Just for Fun page, basing the page around characters saying, "Hi" to other characters is so inconsequential that it isn't even the least bit fun in the first place.

^The "fun" part is supposed to be making the phrase Hello My Name Is Inigo Montoya Prepare to Die all blue. So no, the "fun" part doesn't actually occur on the Just for Fun page itself.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storySo, in other words, the page has no valued purpose whatsoever.
I suppose that depends if you think "fun" has value. Do we think "fun" is worthless, valueless, to be dispensed with. I'd like to think not.

^ Let's put it this way...
If we sincerely want to say that the principal purpose of this page is to make the full phrase "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." all blue in segmented parts, then does that have any value to the wiki community at large?
Does that phrase actually need to be all blue for any reason, especially when there is history of the entire blue phrase being misused and abused and spelled out in full even when less than half of the four blue links actually apply? Three of those four links are made as individual tropes in their own right. Hello appears to just be filler made up for the sake of satisfying a troper with an OCD that demands he sees a useless meme entirely in blue text.

How does it harm the wiki? We're supposed to be allowed to have harmless fun here.

So what?
Is this getting in the way of the wiki in any form? Is it cause any problem? If so, we should cut in the spot. The same goes for every Just for Fun pages. However, no problem has been proven, or even suggested, so far, so why bother?

^^ Actually, it does harm the wiki. There was an older thread in the Repair Shop a while back about tropers using the complete phrase in all blue text all over the wiki, even though only one of the four links was applicable to whatever page the phrase appeared on.
Nevermind that Just for Fun does not shield something from being People Sit On Chairs. If I made a page for the word We and listed examples of every time the word We or any other first-person plural pronouns pop up in media and fiction but called it Just for Fun, would that be a valid reason for keeping a page as stupid as that?

Turns out We already exist. Anyway, I wouldn't have anything against that hypothetical page, as long as it is not being listed in the actual Work Pages (which Hello is not, as far I can tell). Just for Fun is just for fun. No harm, no big deal.
Can you link this thread (or it was erased already)? Or, at last, prove the same thing wouldn't still be happening anyway, even if "Hello" wasn't blue (the rest is still three tropes, after all). Personally, I've never run into this problem.
↑↑If you could present evidence of a sentence known in fiction and in troper culture that uses "we" and a lot of other things that have become Trope Namer, then yeah, that would even be able to make sense to create the page. But what you are suggestins is merely People Sit On Chairs — and on usage, not on existence of the concept.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?
Why does this even have examples? It's a greeting. It's more common than fuck.
Infact, there is this nice little entry:
- Of course, used in The Princess Bride:
—> "Hello. My Name Is Inigo Montoya. You Killed My Father. Prepare to Die."First, it claims Trope Namer title. Second, it confesses whole reason why the page exist. Rest of entries are basicly just people/things saying different variations of "Hello".
Checking wicks, it has no real use. So yeah, it's only reason to exist is to make All Blue Entry Exactly What It Says on the Tin. What I don't get is that it has brought 601 eople into wiki... Who links to it?
People Sit On Chairs, anyone?
*edit*
Screwed up the title, please fix.
