I'm not sure what it means but it sounds like just the thing we need to realize we'r doing down a dark path.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference? This has happened before. Last time they just used the previous year's budget
How is this a good idea?
Other consequences of the’05 shutdown, according to the report:
- New patients were not accepted into clinical research at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, and hotline calls concerning disease were not answered.
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ceased disease surveillance.
- Toxic waste clean-up work ceased at 609 sites.
- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms experienced delays processing alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives applications.
- Work on more than 3,500 bankruptcy cases was suspended.
- Delinquent child-support cases were suspended.
- 368 National Park Service sites were closed.
- 200,000 U.S. applications for passports went unprocessed, as did 20,000-30,000 applications by foreigners for visas every day.
- All 13,500 Department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs employees were furloughed.
- An estimated 25,000 American Indians did not receive timely payments of oil and gas royalties.
You mkae a point i'm just saying failure on a level of this magnitude might be soemthign to make some people wise up and such.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?
Maybe it will make people realize the right wing would rather the country shut down than reach a consensus with democrats.
Hell the Tea Party WANTS the country to shut down.
Because who needs cops, firefighters, teachers, prison guards, road workers, mailmen, and air traffic controllers anyway?
Thopse functions are only possible with government? I beg to differ.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?... thank god I already did all my processing at MEPS last month.
@Tnu, true, but the other options suck.
@Thorn: Considering in the last 4 years alone the Democrats spent us into the hole some 5+ trillion dollars and did not pay for a cent of it (to the irony of their "we need to reinstitute PAYGO" attitude) all the while the economy stagnates.
A shutdown however briefly may just be the wake up call to quit their bitching and agree to some spending cuts.

"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Yes spendign is not a good thing you want to do as little of it as possible what is so horrible about a frugal government that doesn't take it's mistakes out of your hide?
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?Cuts wont do shit.
And a shutdown will cost this country even more money.
Our country needs to nut the fuck up and pay some taxes, unless theres another brilliant way for the government to gain money.
@tnu : I'd rather move to another country than live in a country where the police require my credit card number before showing up.
Also, instead of laying blame, why don't we come up with some solutions? I don't care who caused the debt, both sides have arguments to point the blame, so screw that. We need RESULTS though.

@Tom: The spending cuts, I can get behind. The tax cuts, not so much.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianWait both sides? Your using both as if there are only two sides? You're fallign in to that same trap that everyone else does.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?Maybe, but thats all this has devolved into, us v them bickering.
Left-statism or right-statism I don't care which they bo th need to go god what is iwth with the left statis that think that "taxation is the ultamtte good rais taxes for our own good."
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?Well, there's obviously not enough taxes going to the educational system.

Having a bit trouble reading that post but I think the question you asked was "Why does the left feel the need to raise taxes"
Well where do you think important public services come from, hopes and dreams?
Seriously, my Dad is a retired teacher and I'm glad he retired, teachers are getting their asses kicked so much, and schools pretty much have zero budget where I'm from.
Regardless of how low taxes already are, there will always be people like Tnu who want them lower. That's what the GOP are counting on.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.Did you just call me a Republican?
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference? No but you are certainly anti government and anti tax, which puts you on the same team as the Republicans.
I grew up in Oklahoma City, which has a 50.something% dropout rate.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianYes, I believe we did.
I think the Koch brothers and those rich sons of bitches need to, ahem, give considerable donations to government by force.

Sign on for this After The End Fantasy RP.I'm also pro-gay rights anti-censorship anti-war. I am not a Republican just because I don't think the government needs to babysit us.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?Fine, Financially Conservative.
Fun fact, alot of multi billion dollar companies pay ZERO taxes. Exon Mobile for example.
So...Our wonderful government still cannot come up with a budget, with the republicans refusing to budge and demanding even more tax cuts.
So what happens if the government "shuts down"? This does not sound good, not total anarchy of course but alot of important services sound like they are gonna be hurt really bad.
